Welding Wire for Office Chairs
The commonly used welding wire for office chair welding is ER50-6 solid welding wire. Here is a detailed introduction to welding wires for office chair welding:

Matching of Base Metal and Welding Wire
The metal connectors of office chairs usually use cold-rolled steel sheets or Q235 carbon steel as the base metal. These two materials have good mechanical properties and processing properties, which can meet the structural strength requirements of office chairs. The deposited metal of the ER50-6 solid welding wire has tensile strength and ductility that match those of the base metal, effectively ensuring the mechanical properties of the welded joints. Its tensile strength is usually between 490-620MPa, and its ductility (elongation after fracture) is not less than 22%, which can meet the force requirements of office chairs during normal use.
Application of Welding Wire in Different Welding Processes
- Gas Welding and Tungsten Inert Gas Welding (TIG Welding): In these two processes, the welding wire is mainly used as filler metal. Gas welding generates high temperatures through the combustion of a mixture of oxygen and acetylene, melting the welding wire and the base metal to form a weld. TIG welding uses a tungsten electrode and protects the welding area with an inert gas (such as argon), and the welding wire is fed manually to fill the weld. The ER50-6 welding wire can provide stable deposited metal in these two processes, ensuring weld quality.
- Submerged Arc Welding, Electroslag Welding, and Other Metal Inert Gas/Metal Active Gas Welding (MIG/MAG Welding): In these processes, the welding wire not only serves as filler metal but also as a conductive electrode. Submerged arc welding melts the welding wire and the base metal through an arc under a layer of flux, and the flux plays a protective and metallurgical role during welding. Electroslag welding uses the resistance heat generated by an electric current passing through the slag to melt the welding wire and the base metal. MIG/MAG welding uses a continuously fed welding wire as an electrode and protects the welding area with an inert or active gas. The ER50-6 welding wire can provide high welding speed and good weld formation in these processes.
Importance of Welding Wire Selection
Selecting the appropriate welding wire is crucial for ensuring the welding quality of office chairs. The ER50-6 welding wire has become the preferred material for office chair welding due to its good welding process performance and mechanical properties. Its stable chemical composition and mechanical properties can ensure the reliability and durability of the welded joints, thereby extending the service life of office chairs.
