Office Chair Weld Repair

Admin October 13, 2026

There are several methods for repairing the welds on office chairs, including using welding tools, metal glue, and re-welding.

Using Welding Tools

If you possess the skills to use welding tools, it is feasible to repair broken welds on office chairs using electric or flame welding tools. During the welding process, you will need to prepare metal welding wire and solder, which are typically available at repair shops. Electric welding converts electrical energy into heat energy, causing the welding wire and workpiece to melt locally, thereby achieving a connection. Flame welding, on the other hand, uses a high-temperature flame generated by the mixture of combustible gas and oxygen to heat the workpiece and welding wire, causing them to melt and bond. During operation, ensure that the work environment is well-ventilated, as welding produces harmful gases and fumes. Additionally, wear protective gear such as a face shield and gloves to prevent burns from high temperatures and flying sparks. After welding, allow the weld to cool and inspect the welding quality to ensure that the weld is firm and free from defects such as cold welds and porosity.

Using Metal Glue

For those who lack welding skills or prefer to complete the repair at home easily, using metal glue is a good option. Purchase high-viscosity metal glue that can effectively bond metal materials. Apply the metal glue evenly to the broken area, ensuring that the entire fracture surface is covered for optimal bonding. After application, wait a few minutes for the glue to dry completely. During the drying process, keep the broken area stationary to avoid affecting the bonding quality due to movement. After drying, inspect the bonded area for firmness. If the bond is not tight, you can apply additional glue for reinforcement.

Re-welding

If you know how to re-weld, re-welding the welds is also an effective solution. In this case, use a loose welding bracket to secure the chair, ensuring that it remains stable during the welding process. Before re-welding, clean any impurities and oxides around the weld to ensure welding quality. Then, follow the correct welding process, controlling the welding temperature and time to ensure that the weld is firmly connected. After welding, perform a quality inspection to ensure that the repaired office chair can be used normally.
