Office Chair Weight Loss Exercises

Admin October 14, 2026

There are several weight loss exercises that can be performed using an office chair, which can be practiced during work breaks. It is recommended to progress gradually to avoid sports injuries:

Knee Raises with Press Down: This exercise primarily targets the abdominal muscles. As you exhale, lift your legs and curl your torso while pressing your hands down. Use the force from pressing your hands down to sit up straight and tall, alternating legs for 15 repetitions. Repeated knee raises and press-down motions effectively stimulate the abdominal muscles, enhance abdominal strength, and burn abdominal fat.

Hanging Leg Abdominal Training: Sit on the front half of the chair, lean your body slightly backward, and hold the sides of the chair with both hands to maintain balance. Tighten your abdominal muscles, bring your legs together and bend your knees so that your thighs and calves form a 90-degree angle. Then, slowly raise your legs towards your abdomen, keeping your upper body still, and gently lower them back to the ground. Repeat for 40 seconds, 2 sets. This exercise has a significant effect on strengthening the abdominal muscles and helps shape the abdominal lines.

Alternating Leg Raises on the Chair: Tighten your abdomen, keep your back straight, and alternately raise your bent legs. During the leg-raising process, the abdominal muscles are continuously engaged, which also promotes gastrointestinal motility and improves digestion. Repeat for 40 seconds, 2 sets, to effectively exercise the abdominal muscles.

Waist Twisting Exercise on the Chair: Sit on the front half of the chair, keep your feet together, raise your arms with clenched fists to shoulder height, and lightly touch the fists together. Maintain the posture, slowly turn your body to the left and then return to the front, and repeat on the other side. Repeat for 40 seconds, 2 sets. This exercise can exercise the waist muscles, enhance waist flexibility, and reduce waist fat accumulation.

Leg Raises Against the Chair Back: Hold onto the back of the chair, step back about two foot lengths, inhale to lift your chest and slightly lower your body, exhale to tighten your abdomen, raise your right leg backward and upward while leaning your body forward, touch the ground with your toes, and then open them upward. Repeat 20 - 30 times and then switch legs. This exercise can exercise the leg and abdominal muscles and improve body coordination.

Seated Leg Raises: Sit on the front one-third of the chair, hold the sides of the seat with both hands, bring your legs together and straighten them, then slowly raise them to a horizontal position, feeling the abdominal muscles engage. Do 15 repetitions per set, 3 sets. Continuous leg-raising motions can effectively exercise the abdominal and leg muscles, achieving weight loss results.

Chair Squats: Stand in front of the chair with your feet hip-width apart, sit back onto the chair lightly and immediately stand up, keeping your knees in line with your toes and avoiding inward collapse. This exercise can exercise the leg and buttock muscles and enhance lower limb strength.
