Office Chair Waste Materials
The following is information about office chair waste materials:

I. Waste Material Reuse
Some seat manufacturing companies recycle the sponge waste generated during the production of office chairs. After being bonded with glue, this waste is remade into "recycled sponge." They also use discarded construction panels to make various types of seats, including office chairs. On average, the cost of this recycled sponge is about half that of the original sponge, effectively reducing production costs. However, there are also some undesirable practices. For example, there is a "downgrading" situation where the original sponge used for seat cushion filling is replaced with recycled sponge. There are also "composite" products, where a thin layer of original sponge is covered on the surface or both sides of the recycled sponge to conceal the rough texture of the recycled sponge and deceive consumers.
II. Health Issues Caused by Waste Material Use
Some consumers have complained about experiencing allergic reactions, nausea, and other discomforts shortly after using seats (which may include office chairs) purchased on e-commerce platforms. After investigation, the supply chain of the problematic products was traced back multiple times to Anji. Some companies there had previously contract-manufactured recycled sponge seats for a well-known domestic stationery and office brand, but the cooperation was terminated due to excessive complaints. This indicates that office chairs made from recycled sponge and other waste materials may have quality and safety hazards, posing adverse effects on consumers' physical health.
III. Waste Material Problems with Internet-Famous Office Chairs
The internet-famous "Liu Liu Stool" (which can be used as an office chair) has been exposed for using moldy wooden boards and discarded sponges. It has been sold in livestream rooms such as Jiaogepengyou and Dongfangzhenxuan. Although the merchants have issued statements claiming that the inspected items are qualified, some consumers have found discarded sponges and moldy wooden boards inside after disassembling the stools. This further shows that there are some unscrupulous merchants in the market who, in pursuit of profit, disregard product quality and consumer health, using waste materials to make office chairs and seriously disrupting market order.
