Office Chair Washing
Admin October 08, 2026
The washing method for office chairs should be tailored according to the differences in materials and components, as detailed below:

I. Caster Cleaning
- Hair Entanglement Handling: If the casters are entangled with hair, use small scissors to carefully cut along the direction of entanglement to avoid damaging the wheel structure. This process requires patience to prevent the scissors from cutting your fingers.
- Dirt Cleaning: Moisten a used facial towel and let it air dry. Use its textured surface to rub against the wheel surface. Secure the towel around the wheel with a rubber band and move the chair by sitting on it to transfer dirt onto the towel. Repeat the operation until cleaning is complete.
- Subsequent Protection: Apply invisible tape to the wheel surface, ensuring the tape width covers the wheel edge. Keep slight wrinkles when applying to increase friction and prevent the wheel from sliding unstably due to excessive smoothness.
II. Mesh Office Chair Cleaning
- Initial Dust Removal: Use a vacuum cleaner equipped with a soft-bristle brush head to thoroughly remove dust along the texture direction of the mesh, preventing dust from embedding into the fibers.
- Cleaning Agent Application: Dilute a neutral cleaning agent in a 1:10 ratio and spray it onto the chair surface, or directly use a dedicated watering can to evenly cover the stained area.
- Stain Separation: Let it sit for 5-10 minutes to allow the cleaning agent to penetrate the fibers and break down the stains, avoiding direct wiping that may cause the stains to spread.
- High-Temperature Extraction: Alternately use a sauna machine and a high-temperature cleaning machine to extract the chair surface at least twice to ensure complete separation of the cleaning agent and stains.
- Drying Treatment: Use a water absorber to quickly remove residual moisture, or place it in a well-ventilated area to air dry naturally, avoiding direct sunlight that may cause the mesh to age.
III. Cleaning of Other Material Office Chairs
- Fabric Chairs:
- Stained areas on the surface should only be wiped gently with a damp towel; brushing is prohibited to prevent fading.
- For stubborn stains, dilute the cleaning agent and spray it locally, then rinse with water and dry the moisture to prevent water stains from remaining.
- Leather Chairs:
- For daily dust removal, use a dry towel to wipe along the leather grain; for stains, use a damp towel to wipe gently and then dry immediately.
- Avoid using alcohol or strong acid-base cleaning agents to prevent the leather from cracking; natural air drying can maintain its luster.
- Solid Wood Chairs:
- For dust removal, use a dry towel to wipe the surface; for gaps, use a cotton swab dipped in a small amount of water to clean.
- For oil stains, apply a dedicated wood cleaner, wipe with a slightly damp cloth, and then dry thoroughly to prevent moisture penetration that may cause mold or deformation.
Precautions: For deep cleaning, it is recommended to contact a professional agency to extend the chair's lifespan through processes such as brushing, pre-treatment, and steam sterilization. Daily maintenance should select tools according to the material characteristics and avoid mixing cleaning agents to prevent chemical damage.
