Office Chair Warranty Details

Admin October 11, 2026

The warranty period for office chairs is typically 1 year, but it can be extended to 3-10 years depending on the product type, positioning, and requirements of the purchaser. The specific warranty period should be determined by considering national mandatory standards, market commitments, and exceptional circumstances.

I. National Mandatory Standards and Common Market Commitments

According to the "Furniture After-Sales Service Requirements" (GB/T37652-2019), the minimum three-guarantee warranty period for ordinary office chairs is 1 year, calculated from the date of invoice issuance, covering quality issues caused by material or workmanship defects (such as panel cracking, structural looseness, hardware damage, etc.).
In market practice, ergonomic chairs, positioned as high-end products, generally come with a 3-5 year warranty from brand manufacturers, with some high-end brands offering warranties of up to 10 years for core components (such as gas cylinders and chassis) or the entire chair. In government and enterprise procurement scenarios, administrative institutions or large enterprises typically require suppliers to provide a free warranty of no less than 3 years, covering repairs and component replacements.

II. Specific Content of the Three-Guarantee Services

  1. Repair Guarantee: Non-human-induced damage during the warranty period can be repaired free of charge, and the repaired product must be guaranteed to function normally for more than 30 days after repair; if the repair period is excessively long due to component supply or repairer issues, the seller should replace the product with the same model free of charge.
  2. Replacement Guarantee: If performance failures occur within 7 days of sale, the product can be returned, replaced, or repaired; within 15 days, replacement or repair can be chosen; if the product still cannot function normally after two repairs within the warranty period, the seller should replace or return the product free of charge.
  3. Return Guarantee: If a return is requested within 7 days, the seller should provide a full refund; if replacement conditions are met but the same model is unavailable or the consumer does not wish to replace it, the seller should return the product and charge depreciation fees as stipulated.

III. Exceptional Circumstances (Not Covered by the Three-Guarantee Services)

The following situations are not covered by the warranty:

  • Improper use, maintenance, or storage by the consumer (such as violent use or lack of regular maintenance);
  • Unauthorized disassembly or modification by non-authorized parties;
  • Lack of three-guarantee certificates, invoices, or inconsistent certificate information;
  • Force majeure (such as fire or flood) or normal wear and tear (such as fabric sagging or wheel wear);
  • Oral commitments by merchants that are not documented in contracts or receipts.

IV. Key Certificates and Precautions

Invoices, three-guarantee certificates, product qualification certificates, and instruction manuals are crucial for safeguarding rights and should be kept properly. If an invoice is not obtained, the date on the sales receipt (such as a receipt or electronic order) shall prevail. During the warranty period, if repair time is occupied or repair is impossible due to waiting for components, the relevant time should be deducted from the warranty period. Oral commitments by merchants such as "lifetime warranty" or "five-year warranty" may be invalid if not documented in contracts or receipts, and written terms shall prevail.
