Office Chair Wall Wear

Admin October 17, 2026

The issue of office chairs wearing down walls can be addressed through the following methods:

  1. Install wall protection layers
Add wall panels or wainscoting (recommended height: 1.2 meters) to the walls in workstations or corridors, so that the chair backrest directly contacts the wall panels instead of the latex-painted wall. Wall panels are typically made of PVC, wood, or metal, with a smooth and scratch-resistant surface, effectively isolating the friction between the chair and the wall, especially suitable for high-frequency use areas.

  2. Apply anti-collision stickers or cushioning materials
Stick silicone anti-collision stickers, felt stickers, or rubber pads at the points where the chair backrest contacts the wall. These materials are soft and elastic, dispersing pressure and reducing friction to prevent the wall from being scratched. If the wall has already suffered slight wear, transparent or wall-color-matching anti-collision stickers can be preferred to balance protection and aesthetics.

  3. Use foam pads or sponges for isolation
Cut foam pads or sponges of appropriate thickness to match the size of the chair backrest and place them between the chair and the wall. These materials can absorb impact and reduce the friction coefficient, suitable for temporary protection or low-cost solutions. Regularly check if the pads have shifted or deformed and adjust them promptly to maintain effectiveness.

  4. Choose impact-resistant wall materials
If the budget allows, replace the wall materials in corridors or workstations. For example, elastic textured paint has a bumpy surface, making scratches less noticeable after impacts; wood veneer is hard and less prone to็•™ไธ‹็—•่ฟน (leave marks), suitable for long-term use. These materials require integration with renovation projects and are suitable for new construction or renovation scenarios.

  5. Install corner guards on wall corners
Install rounded metal corner guards or PVC corner strips in easily collided areas such as corridor corners and around columns. Corner guards not only protect the wall but also prevent injuries from collisions, especially suitable for public spaces or children's activity areas. Ensure that the corner guards fit tightly against the wall and have smooth, sharp-free edges during installation.

  6. Adjust chair usage habits or cover the wall
Avoid having chairs pressed against the wall for long periods by adjusting the workstation layout or using chairs with wheels to reduce friction. If the wall has already been worn, use picture frames, plants, or other decorations to cover the gaps, reducing direct contact and beautifying the environment.

  7. Furniture scratch protection measures
Stick furniture scratch protection films on the chair surface or equip the chair edges with anti-collision corner covers. The protection film can cover metal or plastic parts, reducing friction with the wall; the anti-collision corner covers can wrap around the four corners of the chair, reducing the impact force. These measures require regular cleaning of the protection film surface to prevent dust accumulation from exacerbating wear.
