Waist Stretching on Office Chair
Here are some waist-stretching exercises suitable for performing on an office chair, which can effectively relieve waist fatigue and enhance waist flexibility:

Leg Hugging to Chest One by One
This exercise mainly soothes the lower back area. Sit on an office chair, keep your body stable, slowly lift one leg, and use your hand to assist in bringing the thigh as close to the chest as possible. Feel the stretch in the lower back and hold for 15 - 20 seconds before switching to the other leg and repeating the action. In this way, you can relax the muscles and fascia in the lower back and alleviate lower back tension caused by prolonged sitting.
Alternating Arching and Breathing
Maintain an arched-back posture. When inhaling, deepen the arch of the back while exhaling slowly; then inhale to straighten the chest and repeat the alternating motion slowly. During this process, focus on maintaining the arched-back state and feel the spine and waist muscles being stretched. Continue for 3 - 5 sets, with 10 - 15 repetitions per set. This helps enhance the elasticity of the waist muscles and improve blood circulation in the waist.
Twisting to Stretch the Waist
Keep your upper body straight and twist to the right to relax the right waist; then bend forward and twist to the left, with the right hand touching the left foot to stretch the left waist; then bend forward and twist to the right, with the left hand touching the right foot to stretch the right waist. Hold each direction for 15 - 20 seconds and repeat for 2 - 3 sets. This exercise can comprehensively stretch the muscles on both sides of the waist and relieve soreness in those areas.
Hip Stretching
Place your right leg on your left leg, push to the left with your right hand, and at the same time, turn your head and body to the right while slightly leaning forward to enhance the stretching sensation. Hold for 20 - 30 seconds and then switch sides. This exercise not only stretches the hip muscles but also indirectly relieves pressure on the waist, as tight hip muscles can affect the normal force distribution on the waist.
Stretching the Iliopsoas and Quadratus Lumborum Muscles
Sit on the edge of the chair, extend one leg backward, and slightly push the hip forward. Be careful not to extend the lumbar spine forward. You can also directly do a lunge, sink the hip forward while keeping the lumbar spine stable to stretch the iliopsoas muscle; use your hand to block the leg to prevent lumbar spine rotation, extend the other hand forward and upward, and slightly laterally flex the thoracic spine to stretch the quadratus lumborum muscle. Hold each exercise for 15 - 20 seconds and repeat for 2 - 3 sets. Stretching these two muscle groups is crucial for improving waist mobility and reducing waist pain.
