Office Chair Usage Operations

Admin October 12, 2026

The correct usage operations of an office chair involve adjustments in height, angle, armrests, and monitor positioning, combined with the functions of specific models and stretching exercises for prolonged sitting, to ensure comfort and health.

1. Seat Height Adjustment
When adjusting the seat height, ensure that both feet are flat on the ground, with the thighs and lower legs forming a 95ยฐ~100ยฐ angle to avoid excessive pressure on the knees or feet hanging in the air. If the chair is too high, causing the feet to hang, a footrest can be used; if it is too low, the seat height should be increased using the hand control device (such as a lever or knob). After adjustment, reset the control lever to prevent accidental height changes.

2. Seat Angle Adjustment
Maintain a slightly reclined sitting posture, with the back forming a 100ยฐ~110ยฐ angle with the chair back, focusing on keeping the lower back in contact with the chair back to distribute pressure. If the chair is equipped with a lumbar support, adjust it to support the natural curvature of the lumbar spine and avoid the lower back hanging in the air. Maintaining the correct angle over the long term can reduce the risk of lumbar disc herniation.

3. Armrest Height Adjustment
The armrest height should match the position of the elbows when they are naturally hanging down, ensuring that the forearms can be easily placed on the armrests or desk, with the upper arms and forearms forming an approximately 100ยฐ angle. If the armrests are too high, they will raise the shoulders, causing muscle tension; if they are too low, the arms will hang in the air, increasing the burden on the neck. If the armrests interfere with the knees approaching the desk, lower or remove the armrests.

4. Monitor Height Adjustment
The monitor should be raised to a height where the eyes are level with the top edge of the screen, avoiding forward head posture or looking down, to reduce cervical spine pressure. This can be achieved using a monitor stand or books to elevate the monitor, while maintaining a distance of about 50~70 centimeters between the screen and the eyes to prevent visual fatigue.

5. Model-Specific Operation Differences

  • Sihoo S300: The headrest and chair back are designed as a single unit, supporting forward and backward adjustments to accommodate different head positions; the lumbar pillow can be independently adjusted and should be adjusted according to the curvature of the lower back for support.
  • Sihoo H300: The chair needs to be connected to the Sihoo Smart App, where height, weight, and other data are entered, and the system automatically adjusts parameters such as lumbar support position and seat angle, supporting multiple scenarios such as office and leisure mode switching.

6. Stretching Exercises for Prolonged Sitting
Perform simple stretching exercises every 30 minutes:

  • Hip Joint Stretch: Stand with hands on hips and swing the legs back and forth;
  • Lower Back Release: In a sitting position, hug the knees and pull them towards the chest;
  • Shoulder Opener: Stand with arms extended backward and palms facing each other.
    These exercises can promote blood circulation and relieve muscle stiffness.

Correct usage of an office chair, combined with ergonomic principles and individual needs, along with regular parameter adjustments and stretching exercises, can significantly improve comfort and prevent occupational diseases.
