Office Chairs in the USA

Admin October 08, 2026

Information about office chairs in the US market mainly includes recall incidents, well-known brands and product features, as well as market regulatory situations.

Regarding recall incidents, the US has initiated multiple recalls of office chairs manufactured in China. For example, on March 2, 2023, due to the potential for the backrest to break and pose a falling hazard, the US and Canada jointly recalled some office chairs made in China. Twelve related reports had been received, with ten people injured. On January 16, 2025, the US recalled the WorkPro Momentum office chairs made in China again because the bolts might fail, presenting a falling risk. Seven reports had been received, with two people suffering minor injuries. These recall incidents reflect the high importance the US market places on the safety of office chairs and also remind consumers to pay attention to product safety information when making purchases.

In terms of well-known brands and product features, the Embody office chair launched by the US-based brand Herman Miller has attracted significant attention. Designed by designers William Stumpf and Jeff Weber, this product employs dynamic pixel matrix technology and a BackFit adjustment mechanism, enabling it to adjust support according to the body's movements, effectively alleviating fatigue from prolonged sitting and winning multiple international awards. Additionally, the Sumlush Xia Muwu fit2 office chair, which is exported to the European and US markets, has also performed outstandingly. Although it is not a US-based brand, it has been featured on CCTV broadcasts and selected for the Brand Powerhouse Preferred Project. It consistently ranks high in sales and reputation among mid-to-high-end ergonomic office chairs, demonstrating its product quality and market recognition.

Regarding market regulation, although the national supervision and random inspection of office chairs conducted by the State Administration for Market Regulation on September 30, 2024, mainly targeted the domestic market and found that 15 batches of products were unqualified with prominent stability issues, this incident also indirectly reflects the common concern of the global market for the safety of office chairs. The US market also ensures that consumers use safe and reliable office chair products through strict regulatory and recall systems.
