Office Chair Tray Reinforcement

Admin October 19, 2026

Office chair tray reinforcement can be achieved through the following methods, and a targeted solution should be selected based on the cause of the wobbling:

1. Screw Tightening If the tray exhibits slight wobbling, first check whether all visible connecting screws are loose. Use a screwdriver or wrench of the corresponding size to tighten the screws at the connections between the tray, the seat, and the gas lift one by one. This method is low-cost and highly effective, suitable for most scenarios where screws have become loose due to long-term use. Note: Avoid applying excessive force during tightening to prevent the screws from stripping or damaging the threads.

2. Replacement of Worn Parts If the wobbling is caused by wear on the nylon slide rails, plastic clips, or interface plastic sleeves, locate the specific worn components. For example, worn nylon slide rails can reduce the friction between the tray and the seat, while broken plastic clips may lead to structural looseness. You can purchase the same model of replacement parts online or contact the manufacturer, then disassemble the old parts and install the new ones according to the instructions. Key Point: Before replacement, ensure that the part models match to avoid secondary looseness due to incompatible sizes.

3. Complete Tray Replacement When the metal structure of the tray is severely deformed (such as bending or breaking) or the wear range is too extensive (such as damage to multiple plastic parts), and replacing individual parts cannot completely solve the problem, a complete tray replacement is necessary. Choose a tray of the same model that matches the original chair type or a universal tray (confirm the compatibility of the gas lift and seat interfaces). Operation Tip: When disassembling the old tray, record the positions of the screws. When installing the new tray, assemble it in the reverse order and test whether the lifting and rotating functions work properly.

4. Handling Special Cases

  • Stripped Screw Holes: If the screw holes have become worn due to repeated disassembly and assembly, you can first wrap 2-3 layers of Teflon tape around the screw threads and then screw them in to increase friction. If this is still ineffective, replace the screws with a larger size (confirm hole diameter compatibility) or use a thread repair tool (such as a wire thread insert) to rebuild the threads.
  • Metal Fatigue Fracture: If cracks or fractures appear on the tray support, stop using it immediately to avoid safety hazards. In such cases, it is recommended to replace the tray directly rather than attempting welding repairs (welding may reduce the metal's strength).

Post-Reinforcement Testing: After completing the repair or replacement, simulate daily use scenarios to test the stability of the tray, including forward and backward tilting, left and right rotation, and lifting functions, to ensure there are no abnormal noises or wobbling. If the problem persists, it is advisable to contact a professional repair technician to further inspect the gas lift or seat structure.
