Office Chair Tray Breakage
Admin October 12, 2026
There are various reasons for the breakage of an office chair tray, and the repair method should be selected based on the severity of the breakage.

Reasons for Breakage
- Material and Process Defects: Inferior manufacturers, in order to cut costs, use thin-walled materials, low-quality connectors, and even omit key protective components. These defects, after long-term repeated leaning, will gradually cause the components to wear out and develop micro-cracks, ultimately leading to breakage. Breakage often occurs at the connection between the backrest and the base, as well as at the adjustment mechanism.
- Excessive Weight Pressure: If the chair tray bears excessive body weight pressure and remains in an overloaded state for a long time, it will exert additional pressure on the chair structure, causing damage to the tray.
- Mechanical Fatigue: As a common load-bearing component, the tray is subjected to long-term weight and frequent use in daily life, which can lead to mechanical fatigue and potentially cause it to break.
Repair Methods
- Minor Breakage: For a broken base tray, you can try using a hammer to continuously tap it to loosen it, doing so in multiple attempts while protecting your hands. If the bracket is severely rusted, you can spray a loosening agent before tapping to make the repair easier.
- Severe Breakage: If the metal structure of the tray is severely deformed or excessively worn, and cannot be fixed by replacing small parts, the safest approach is to purchase a new tray of the same model or a universal model for complete replacement. When buying a new tray, ensure it is compatible with the original chair to guarantee stability and performance after installation. Additionally, follow the correct steps during the replacement process to avoid damaging other components due to improper operation.
