Office Chair Tray Adjustment

Admin October 16, 2026

Office chair tray adjustment should be carried out according to specific issues. Here are some common adjustment and repair methods:

1. Adjustment for left-right wobbling of the tray The left-right wobbling of the tray is usually caused by mechanical fatigue, long-term load-bearing, or frequent use. The core reasons are loose mechanical connections, wear of nylon chutes/plastic buckles, or aging of interface components. The adjustment steps are as follows:

  • Safety inspection and preliminary observation: Lay the chair flat and check for obvious looseness or abnormal noises at the connections between the tray, the seat, and the gas lift. Observe whether components such as chutes and buckles are deformed or worn.
  • Targeted repair operations:
    • If the screws are loose, use tools to tighten all connecting screws, with a focus on checking the fixing points between the tray, the seat, and the gas lift.
    • If the nylon chutes or plastic buckles are worn, replace the corresponding components (some models support individual replacement; otherwise, the entire tray needs to be replaced).
    • If the interface components are aged (such as rusted metal connectors), clean the rust and apply lubricating oil, or replace the aged components.

2. Adjustment for new chair sliding down The sliding down of a new chair is often caused by incorrect installation direction of the tray or improper position of the lift lever. The adjustment method is as follows:

  • Check the installation direction of the tray: Ensure that the tray is not installed backwards (some models have clear front-back markings on the tray). Installing it backwards will lead to abnormal gravity distribution and cause the chair to slide down.
  • Adjust the position of the lift lever: Make sure the lift lever is on the right-hand side (in line with ergonomic design). If the lever is on the left, the chair may slide down due to uneven force caused by inconvenient operation.

3. Adjustment of tray-related components The tray is indirectly related to the seat height adjustment function, and attention should be paid to the operating principles of the gas lift:

  • Height adjustment method: It is achieved through the control lever of the gas lift under the seat. Lifting the lever upwards raises the seat, and pressing the lever downwards with your body weight while sitting lowers the seat.
  • Operating taboos: Avoid forcibly pulling the handle of the gas lift while in mid-air (such as when your feet are off the ground). Otherwise, it may damage the internal structure of the gas lift, leading to adjustment failure or safety hazards.

Precautions: If the tray is severely damaged (such as being broken or deformed), it is recommended to contact the manufacturer to replace original parts. Avoid self-modification to prevent affecting the stability of the chair. Avoid long-term overloading during daily use to extend the service life of the tray.
