Office Chair

Admin October 08, 2026

Office chairs are chairs equipped for the convenience of work in daily work and social activities. There are various types, but there are also some quality issues.

Definition and Classification of Office Chairs

OfficeMate categorizes office chairs into two types: narrow and broad. Narrow office chairs refer to backrest chairs used by individuals in a seated position while performing desk work. These chairs are typically designed with backrests to provide support and reduce fatigue from prolonged sitting. Broad office chairs encompass all chairs used in offices, including executive chairs and staff chairs. Executive chairs are generally used in the offices of senior corporate management and are usually more luxuriously designed with richer functions. Staff chairs, on the other hand, are used by ordinary employees for daily office work and focus more on practicality and cost-effectiveness.

Types of Office Chairs

The market offers a wide variety of office chairs. For example, study chairs, long-sitting computer chairs, and home-use comfortable office chairs typically prioritize comfort and are suitable for individuals who spend long hours using computers or studying. Solid wood backrest computer chairs, which combine the texture of solid wood with modern design styles, are both aesthetically pleasing and practical. Home-use computer chairs designed for girls' bedrooms, makeup, and study desks are usually compact and delicate, suitable for use in bedrooms or studies, and feature rotation functions for easy operation in different directions. Among them, the Sihoo Oubao Chair L3 leather computer chair, ergonomic chair, study room chair, desk chair, and office chair with lumbar support has received considerable attention. Users have praised its high appearance and comfort, indicating that the chair not only focuses on aesthetic appeal in design but also considers ergonomic principles, providing good support and comfort for users.

Quality Issues with Office Chairs

Office chairs also have some quality issues. On March 2, 2023, the United States and Canada recalled office chairs produced in China due to the risk of backrest breakage, which posed a falling hazard. Twelve reports had been received, including ten injury reports. On September 30, 2024, the State Administration for Market Regulation conducted a national supervision and inspection of office chairs and found that 15 batches of products were unqualified, with stability issues being prominent. On January 16, 2025, the United States recalled office chairs produced in China under the WorkPro Momentum brand due to the risk of bolt failure and falling hazards. Seven reports had been received, including two minor injuries. These quality issues remind consumers to choose products from regular channels with quality guarantees when purchasing office chairs.
