Office Chair

Admin October 08, 2026

Office chairs are chairs equipped for the convenience of work in daily work and social activities. There are different classifications, and the installation methods vary among different models. There have also been multiple recall events due to quality issues.

In terms of classification, OfficeMate categorizes office chairs into narrow and broad senses. A narrowly defined office chair refers to a backrest chair used when a person is sitting at a desk for work. This type of chair mainly meets the basic sitting needs during daily office work and provides a certain degree of support and comfort for the user. A broadly defined office chair encompasses all chairs used in offices, including executive chairs and staff chairs. Executive chairs are typically used in the offices of senior corporate management. Their design places more emphasis on luxury and comfort, and they are relatively large in size. Staff chairs are used by ordinary employees for daily office work and focus more on practicality and cost-effectiveness.

The installation methods differ for different models of office chairs. Taking the 1012A office chair as an example, during installation, the base casters should be installed first, followed by the seat armrests. During the installation process, follow the video instructions and use screw C. Install screw D on the inner side and insert screw E into the base after placing it in a washer. For the installation of the 2022A office chair, first install the base casters, use screws J and K along with washer L to install the chassis, and use screws and screw sleeves when installing the armrests.

The quality issues of office chairs cannot be ignored. On March 2, 2023, the United States and Canada implemented a recall of office chairs made in China due to the risk of the backrest breaking, which posed a falling hazard. At that time, 12 reports had been received, including 10 injury reports. On September 30, 2024, the State Administration for Market Regulation found that 15 batches of office chairs failed the national supervision and random inspection, with stability issues being particularly prominent. On January 16, 2025, the United States implemented a recall of WorkPro Momentum office chairs made in China because the bolts might fail, posing a falling hazard. Seven reports had been received, with two people suffering minor injuries. These recall events remind consumers to pay attention to product quality and safety when selecting and using office chairs.
