Office Chair

Admin October 08, 2026

Office chairs are chairs equipped for the convenience of work in daily work and social activities. They come in various classifications and installation methods, and there are also quality and safety issues to consider.

I. Classification
OfficeMate classifies office chairs into two categories: narrow and broad. Narrow office chairs refer to the backrest chairs used when people are sitting at a desk for work. These chairs are usually designed with ergonomic backrests and seat cushions to provide comfortable support, helping users maintain correct sitting postures and reduce fatigue from long hours of work. Broad office chairs encompass all chairs used in offices, including executive chairs and staff chairs. Executive chairs are generally used in the offices of senior management personnel. They have a more luxurious design and richer functions, such as adjustable height and tilt angles. Staff chairs, on the other hand, focus more on practicality and cost-effectiveness to meet the daily office needs of ordinary employees.

II. Installation Methods
The installation methods of office chairs vary depending on the model. For example, the installation of the 1011A office chair requires following video instructions. First, insert the A and L screws and place the gaskets, then install the seat armrests. When installing, fix them first and then tighten them to ensure the armrests are firmly installed. When installing the 2022A office chair, first prepare the materials, then install the base casters. Use screws J and K along with gasket L to install the chassis. For installing the armrests, use screws and screw sleeves, and finally place the base.

III. Quality and Safety Issues
The quality and safety issues of office chairs cannot be ignored. On March 2, 2023, the United States and Canada initiated a recall of office chairs made in China due to the risk of the backrest breaking, which could lead to falls. At that time, 12 reports had been received, including 10 injury reports. On September 30, 2024, the State Administration for Market Regulation conducted a national supervision and inspection of office chairs and found that 15 batches of products were unqualified, with stability issues being particularly prominent. On January 16, 2025, the United States initiated another recall of the WorkPro Momentum office chairs made in China because the bolts might fail, posing a risk of falls. Seven reports had been received, including two minor injuries. These recall incidents remind consumers to pay attention to the quality and safety of products when purchasing and using office chairs and to choose products with quality assurance from regular channels.
