Office Chair Test Conditions
The test conditions for office chairs cover various aspects such as dimensional measurement, stability, strength, and fatigue, as detailed below:

Dimensional Measurement Conditions
First, determine the chair type (e.g., Type C office chair) based on the gas lift stroke and seat height, and then measure the dimensions of each part according to the standard. During measurement, a 65kg weight should be placed on the seat. For example, the adjustable height of the seat height gas lift should be greater than 80, with a measurement range of less than 420 at the minimum and greater than 480 at the maximum; the seat depth and seat panel depth should be greater than 380; the seat panel width should be greater than 400; the seat surface angle should range from -2ยฐ to 7ยฐ; the height of the็ชๅบ point (protruding point) near the lumbar region of the backrest should range from 170 to 220; the backrest panel length should be greater than 260; the height from the highest point of the backrest to the seat surface should be greater than 360; the backrest panel width should be greater than 360; the arc radius of the backrest panel should be greater than 400; the functional length of the armrests should be greater than 200 (for irregularly shaped armrests, measure from 20mm below the highest point of the armrest); the armrest panel width should be greater than 40; the height from the functional surface of the armrests to the seat surface should range from 200 to 250; the distance from the front end of the armrests to the front end of the seat should be greater than 100; the distance between the two armrests should be greater than 460; the functional radius of the five-star base should be less than (the chair's rotation radius + 50mm).
Stability Test Conditions
Place the sample components in the most vulnerable-to-tipping state (e.g., casters retracted, seat at the highest position, springs at the loosest setting). Tests include forward, lateral, backward, and seat panel opposite-side tests, among others. For example, in the backward test, chairs with a rocking function should be tested with 13 pieces of 48mm-thick weights (totaling 130kg). If the backrest panel length is insufficient, use wooden strips to support the weights. According to the EN1335 standard, when simulating the force applied by a user, the tilt angle of an office chair should not exceed the designed critical value. The test platform should tilt at a rate of 5 degrees per second, and the changes in the contact points between the chair wheels and the ground should be recorded. Chairs with casters should undergo additional testing of the caster locking function. If more than two casters lose contact with the ground when tilted to 15 degrees, the chair fails the test.
Strength and Fatigue Test Conditions
- Armrest Strength Test: If the armrests are not integrated with the backrest panel, apply vertical pressures of 75kg and 90kg five times each. Pay attention to the quality of the wooden panel nut installation area and the strength of the armrest material.
- Chair Fatigue Test: The gas lift should undergo continuous reciprocating rotation for 100 hours without interruption.
- Seat Static Load Test: The seat should withstand a vertical pressure of 120kg for 60 seconds.
- Backrest Static Load Test: The backrest should withstand a backward pull force at a 45-degree angle to simulate the force during reclining.
- Structural Durability Test: The seat should withstand 100,000 cycles of vertical pulse loading at a frequency of 30 cycles per minute, and the backrest should complete 50,000 cycles of backward tilting with a load of 350N. After testing, the moving parts (such as the lifting cylinder and reclining mechanism) should remain fully functional, and the seat height settlement should not exceed 15mm.
- Rotation Mechanism Test: For chairs with a rotating function, the rotation mechanism should withstand 20,000 cycles of rotation with a torque of 35Nm.
- Reclining Function Test: When the backrest is reclined to the maximum angle, the relative displacement between the seat cushion and the backrest should be less than 8mm.
