Office Chair Swivel Frame

Admin October 19, 2026

The office chair swivel frame is one of the core components that enable the swivel function of office swivel chairs. Its working principle and structural features are as follows:

The swivel function of the office chair swivel frame mainly relies on the spherical bottom valve structure at the bottom. This bottom valve consists of three iron pieces and steel balls. Low-friction rotation is achieved through the rolling of the steel balls between the iron pieces. This design allows the seat surface to rotate flexibly even when bearing the weight of a person, while ensuring rotational stability through the limiting effect of the iron pieces. When a person sits on the chair and applies a rotational force, the steel balls roll within the่ฝจ้“ (track, here it means the path formed by the iron pieces) created by the iron pieces, converting vertical pressure into horizontal rolling friction, thereby significantly reducing rotational resistance.

The rotational center of the swivel frame is located at the axle structure in the middle of the base. This axle serves as the fulcrum of the entire rotational system, around which the upper structures such as the seat surface and armrests rotate in a circular motion. The axle is usually made of high-strength metal materials and its surface is precisely processed to reduce wear. During rotation, the axle cooperates with the bearing to form a rotational pair, and lubricants are used to reduce direct metal-to-metal contact, ensuring smooth long-term use. Some high-end products use ceramic bearings or oil-impregnated bearings to further enhance rotational lifespan and quiet operation.

The complete rotational system of an office swivel chair also includes other collaborative components. The pneumatic height adjustment system regulates the seat height through a pneumatic rod, and its internal pneumatic spring forms a vertical support structure with the swivel frame. The elastic support frame provides rotational cushioning through springs or hydraulic devices, absorbing some of the centrifugal force during rapid rotation and improving user comfort. The caster system at the bottom of the five-star base, although not directly involved in rotation, enables the chair to maintain rotational flexibility during movement through its universal wheel design, working together with the swivel frame to form a complete motion system. These components, through precise mechanical cooperation, enable the office chair to achieve three core functions: 360-degree infinite rotation, height adjustment, and free movement.
