Office Chair Swivel Chair Screws

Admin October 10, 2026

The specifications and uses of screws for office chairs and swivel chairs are diverse, with common specifications ranging from M3 to M10. Different specifications are suitable for connecting different parts, and the length selection also needs to be determined based on the thickness of the connected components.

Common Specifications

The specifications of screws for office chairs and swivel chairs are mainly based on metric threads, with common models including M3, M4, M5, M6, M8, and M10. Among them, M6 and M8 are the most widely used specifications:

  • M6 Screws: Often used for fixing trays to cushions, preliminary connections between armrests and backrests, and other medium-load-bearing parts. For example, in semi-round head knurled furniture screws, the M6 specification is often paired with anti-slip teeth and washers to enhance connection stability.
  • M8 Screws: Suitable for connecting the chassis to the gas lift, fixing metal chair legs to crossbeams, and other high-load-bearing scenarios. Some shorter models (such as 20 - 25mm) can also be used for secondary fixation of backrest armrests to cushions.
  • Other Specifications: M3/M4 screws are usually used for non-load-bearing parts such as plastic chairs or armrest decorative pieces; M5 screws are commonly found in connecting metal chair legs to bases; M10 screws are used for reinforcing the connection between the gas lift and the chassis.

Length Selection

The length of the screw needs to be matched according to the thickness of the connected components to avoid affecting stability due to excessive length or shortness:

  • 10 - 20mm: Suitable for fixing thin plates, such as connecting the seat surface to the backrest and preliminary fixation of armrests to the backrest.
  • 25 - 40mm: Used for thick components, such as connecting chair legs to crossbeams and fixing the chassis to the gas lift.
  • Special Scenarios: Headrest installation requires short screws of 8 - 12mm; secondary fixation of backrest armrests to cushions requires medium-length screws of 20 - 25mm.

Use Classification

The uses of screws with different specifications strictly correspond to the structural requirements of office chairs and swivel chairs:

  • Load-Bearing Connections: Parts such as the chassis and gas lift, and metal chair legs and bases require the use of M8 or M10 screws to ensure load-bearing capacity.
  • Medium Fixation: Parts such as trays and cushions, and armrests and backrests often use M6 screws to balance strength and installation convenience.
  • Non-Load-Bearing Decorations: Parts such as plastic chairs or armrest decorative pieces use M3/M4 screws to meet lightweight requirements.

In addition, some screws are designed with special structures (such as semi-round head knurling and flange-faced toothed anti-slip washers) to enhance friction and prevent loosening, making them suitable for long-term use in furniture swivel chairs.
