Office Chair Swivel Caster Wheels

Admin October 22, 2026

There are various types of office chair swivel caster wheels, and the methods for disassembly and replacement vary depending on the type of wheel.

Types of Caster Wheels

  1. Wheels with Locking Function: These have a diameter of 60 millimeters and are equipped with a silent sleeve that effectively reduces the sound produced by metal friction. The outer layer of the wheel is wrapped in soft PU material, which can protect solid wood floors. When in use, if you need to lock the position of the chair, push the wheel down, and the chair will basically not move; when you need to move the chair, lift it up to unlock.
  2. Gravity Wheels: These also have a diameter of 60mm. Their special feature is that after being subjected to gravity, the internal mechanism increases the resistance to the left and right movement of the wheel, making movement relatively strenuous but producing less sound.
  3. Fixed Foot Pads: This design is relatively simple and straightforward. By pulling out the foot pad and inserting it back in, you can fix the chair in place. It is suitable for older users, such as the elderly or children at home, to prevent accidents caused by chair movement.
  4. Bearing Hollow Wheels: These are hollow in the middle with bearings inside, giving them a good texture and relatively heavy weight. The outer layer is also wrapped in soft PU, available in black and gray colors, with a specification of 60mm. To lock them, simply press a button.
  5. 65mm Specification Wheels: These are suitable for chairs with larger wheels. You can lock the wheels by pressing on the side. They come in two colors, white and black, with the white ones having a gray design on the edges that is more resistant to dirt.

Disassembly and Replacement Methods

  1. Round Insert Rod Wheels: For disassembly, simply pull the wheel out forcefully. If it doesn't come out directly, you can use a flat-head screwdriver to pry it in; if you don't have enough strength, you can also use pliers to clamp the rod and knock it out with a hammer or use the pliers to knock it out. For installation, align the forked wheel directly with the hole and press it in.
  2. Hexagonal Screw Wheels: Both disassembly and installation are relatively simple. Use the matching handle to unscrew the screw and then screw it back in to complete the replacement.
