Sweating on Office Chairs
Sweating while sitting on office chairs in summer is mainly related to poor material breathability, increased local temperature and humidity from prolonged sitting, and heat generated by skin friction against the surface. This can be alleviated by choosing breathable materials and improving usage habits.

Material is a key factor affecting sweating. Office chairs made of plastic, leather, or metal have poor thermal conductivity and breathability on their surfaces. When sitting for long periods, the skin's contact area cannot dissipate heat, causing sweat to be trapped on the surface, leading to a damp and sticky feeling. In contrast, mesh fabric is the top choice for summer. High-elasticity engineering mesh offers the best breathability, with its woven structure allowing air to flow freely through the front and back, preventing heat buildup on the back and buttocks. It ensures breathability, support, and durability without feeling้ท็ญ (stuffy) or sticking to clothing. Perforated molded foam is also a good option; compared to solid foam, its perforated structure can dissipate heat, significantly improving breathability, providing a soft and non-sweaty sitting experience, suitable for those who dislike hardness and heat.
Office chairs with poor breathability not only affect comfort but may also cause health issues. Sitting for extended periods on a poorly ventilated chair can make users feel hot, stuffy, sweaty, and have damp skin, creating an environment conducive to bacteria and mite growth. This can lead to skin allergies, respiratory infections, and other health problems, affecting work efficiency and concentration.
To reduce sweating, prioritize office chairs made of breathable materials like rattan, bamboo, or hollow mesh, or add cotton-linen or ice-silk cushions to hard office chairs. These materials enhance air circulation and reduce sweat accumulation. Additionally, get up and move for 2-3 minutes every 30 minutes to promote blood circulation and airflow; wear lightweight, breathable cotton or quick-drying pants to reduce heat generation from skin friction against the chair; use a small fan to direct airflow toward the buttocks, set the air conditioner to around 26ยฐC to lower ambient temperature; briefly cool the chair by wrapping an ice pack in a towel before going out, and carry a portable bamboo fiber cushion to handle stuffy environments anytime.
