Office Chair Surface Cleaning

Admin October 12, 2026

The cleaning of office chair surfaces should be carried out using different methods depending on the material, as detailed below:

Mesh Office Chairs: Mesh office chairs offer good breathability, but dust and stains can easily become embedded in the fibers. During cleaning, first, use a vacuum cleaner to thoroughly remove dust particles, especially in the seams and mesh areas, to prevent dust from spreading or scratching the fibers during subsequent cleaning. Second, evenly spray diluted cleaning solution onto the chair surface and let it sit for 5-10 minutes to allow stains to detach from the fibers. Third, use a sauna machine and high-temperature cleaning machine alternately to suction-wash at least twice. High temperatures accelerate stain dissolution and kill bacteria. During cleaning, use a water absorber simultaneously to dry the surface, preventing mold or deformation caused by water residue. For deep cleaning, additional steps are required, including brushing (lightly brushing the surface with a soft-bristled brush), pre-treatment (applying specialized cleaning solution to stubborn stains), targeted stain removal (e.g., using alcohol for oil stains), water circulation cleaning (repeated rinsing until no foam remains), and steam deep cleaning for sterilization and disinfection (temperature must reach above 120ยฐC) to ensure thorough cleaning.

Fabric Office Chairs: Fabric materials are prone to dust accumulation and are not resistant to water washing. During cleaning, avoid direct brushing to prevent fiber deformation. For daily cleaning, gently wipe the surface with a damp cloth to remove dust and light stains. For heavier stains, dilute the cleaning solution at a 1:20 ratio and spray it onto the cloth before wiping the chair surface. After cleaning, be sure to rinse the cloth with clean water and wring it out, then repeatedly wipe the chair surface until no cleaning solution residue remains. Finally, use a dry cloth to absorb moisture and prevent water stains from penetrating and causing mold. If the chair surface has a removable fabric cover, it can be directly machine-washed (check the washing label to confirm if machine washing is supported), but avoid using bleach or high-temperature drying.

Leather Office Chairs: Leather materials should be protected from moisture and chemical erosion, as they are prone to cracking or fading. For daily cleaning, use a soft, dry cloth to wipe away dust along the grain. If there are stains on the surface, lightly wipe with a damp cloth (water temperature not exceeding 30ยฐC). Immediately after wiping, use a dry cloth to absorb moisture and place the chair in a well-ventilated area to air dry naturally, avoiding direct sunlight or using a hairdryer to speed up drying. For stubborn stains, dip a small amount of specialized leather cleaning solution (test for colorfastness in an inconspicuous area first) and wipe, but strictly control the amount to prevent the cleaning solution from hardening the leather.
