Office Chair Support Rod

Admin October 10, 2026

The office chair support rod is a key component used to adjust the height, angle, or provide structural support for office chairs. Common types include telescopic straight rods, lifting rods, explosion-proof hydraulic rods, etc., with differences in materials, functions, and applicable scenarios.

1. Telescopic Zinc-Plated Straight Rod Support

This type of rod is primarily made of zinc-plated steel, with the surface enhanced for corrosion resistance through the zinc-plating process. It is suitable for lateral support in home seating. Its core function is to adjust the width or stability of the seat through a telescopic structure. For example, in the side support of sofas or office chairs, the length of the rod can be adjusted to match seat frames of different sizes. Zinc-plating not only improves aesthetics but also extends the service life, making it suitable for environments with high anti-rust requirements.

2. Straight Lifting Rod (Multi-Gear Adjustable Type)

This type of rod integrates multi-gear lifting functionality, typically designed with 5 or more height adjustments, fixed through internal buckles or spring structures. Users can switch gears by pressing or rotating the rod to accommodate different heights or sitting postures. For example, in office chairs, this type of rod can be used in conjunction with a pneumatic rod as an auxiliary height adjustment device, enhancing the flexibility of the seat. Its materials are mostly high-strength plastics or aluminum alloys, balancing lightweight and durability.

3. Adjustable Telescopic Straight Rod Hinge

This type of rod combines telescopic and angle adjustment functions, commonly found in the support systems of sofa cushions or seat backrests. Through a hinge structure, users can simultaneously adjust the length and tilt angle of the rod to achieve multi-directional adjustment of the backrest. For example, in the lumbar support module of office chairs, this type of rod can help users adjust the support position according to their body shape, improving comfort. Its materials are usually stainless steel or engineering plastics, ensuring the stability of angle adjustment.

4. Explosion-Proof Hydraulic Rod (Gas Rod)

As the core component for lifting office chairs, the explosion-proof hydraulic rod achieves stepless lifting through high-pressure nitrogen and is equipped with an explosion-proof device internally to avoid safety hazards caused by abnormal air pressure. Its materials are mostly high-strength steel pipes, with the surface treated by electroplating or spraying for wear resistance and aesthetics. This type of gas rod is widely used in computer chairs, office seats, and wheelchairs, supporting fast and smooth height adjustments, and is a standard component of modern office furniture.

Selection Advice: If basic support functionality is required, zinc-plated straight rods can be prioritized; if multi-gear height adjustment is needed, straight lifting rods are more suitable; when there are requirements for the backrest angle, adjustable hinge rods are the preferred choice; and for those pursuing smooth and safe lifting, explosion-proof hydraulic rods should be selected. When purchasing, it is necessary to comprehensively evaluate based on specific usage scenarios, budget, and material durability.
