Office Chair Support Bent

Admin October 16, 2026

If the support of an office chair is bent, appropriate measures need to be taken according to the specific bent part. Here are some common situations and solutions:

If the bent part is the backrest support rod, its bending may cause the backrest to be unable to lock into place properly or a decrease in support force. In this case, you can first try manual straightening: Lay the chair flat, hold both ends of the support rod with your hands, and slowly apply pressure in the opposite direction of the bend to see if it can be restored to its original shape. If the support rod is made of metal and the degree of bending is slight, this method may be effective. If the material is plastic or the bending is severe, forced straightening may cause it to break, and you should stop the operation immediately. If manual straightening is ineffective, then you need to replace the support rod: Contact the after-sales service of the office chair brand or a professional repairer, provide the chair model and the specifications of the support rod, and purchase a suitable new rod for replacement. When replacing, you need to remove the fixing screws of the backrest, take off the old rod, and then install the new one. Pay attention to the tightening force of the screws to avoid looseness or over-tightening.

If the bent part is the seat frame, its deformation may cause the backrest to not lock properly, the seat to wobble, or a decrease in load-bearing capacity. In this case, you first need to assess the degree of deformation: If the frame is made of metal and only slightly deformed, you can try local heating and straightening: Use a hot air gun or a hairdryer to evenly heat the deformed part (control the temperature between 100 - 150โ„ƒ to avoid overheating and softening the material). After the material becomes soft, use a tool (such as a wooden mallet) to gently tap it back into place. After cooling, check if it has returned to flatness. If the frame is made of plastic or the deformation is severe, heating and straightening may be ineffective, and you need to reinforce and repair: Stick metal reinforcement plates (such as aluminum alloy corner brackets) on the deformed part and fix them with screws to enhance the frame's strength. Or use epoxy resin glue to fill the deformed gaps, and after curing, sand it flat. If the frame is damaged beyond repair, then you need to replace the entire seat frame: Contact the after-sales service to obtain an original frame or a universally compatible frame. When removing the old frame, pay attention to recording the positions of the screws and the connection methods. When installing the new frame, ensure that all components are aligned to avoid abnormal noises or looseness during subsequent use.

Pay attention to safety during the handling process to avoid secondary damage or personal injury caused by improper operation. If you are not familiar with the repair, it is recommended to contact professionals first.
