Solutions for Super Low Office Chairs

Admin October 11, 2026

Super low office chairs can be addressed through basic adjustments, using auxiliary tools, or replacing the chair. Here are the specific methods:

1. Basic Adjustments
If the office chair has a built-in height adjustment feature, prioritize adjusting the height using the adjustment lever or knob.

  • Adjustment Lever Operation: Most office chairs are equipped with a height adjustment lever (usually a black or silver lever) beneath the seat or on the side. Lifting the lever upward while lightly leaning on the seat raises the chair; pressing it downward lowers it. After adjustment, ensure the seat is stable to prevent height rebound due to looseness.
  • Knob Adjustment: Some high-end chairs use a knob design. Turning the knob clockwise raises the chair; turning it counterclockwise lowers it. After adjustment, check that the knob is locked to prevent height changes during use.
  • Gas Lift Safety: If there is stuttering, abnormal noise, or irregular height adjustment during the process, the gas lift may be aged or damaged. Stop using it immediately and contact after-sales service to replace the gas lift, avoiding safety hazards caused by gas lift explosion.

2. Auxiliary Tools
If the chair lacks adjustment features or the adjustment range is insufficient, height can be increased by adding a seat cushion.

  • Memory Foam Cushion: Choose a memory foam cushion with a thickness of 5-10cm, which can increase height while dispersing pressure and enhancing comfort. Be cautious to avoid cushions that are too thick, which may cause the lower back to hang in the air and lead to lumbar muscle strain.
  • Adjustable Cushion: Use an adjustable cushion with a non-slip base to adapt to different needs by adjusting the cushion height. Such cushions are generally stable and suitable for long-term use.

3. Replacement or Request for Replacement
If the chair is severely aged or adjustments are ineffective, it is recommended to replace it with a compliant office chair.

  • Purchasing a New Chair: Choose a chair with adjustable height, prioritizing products that comply with the GB/T 22851 standard to ensure the safety and reliability of components such as the gas lift and five-star base.
  • Request from the Company: If the chair is provided by the company, you can apply to the administrative department for replacement or repair. According to relevant provisions of the Labor Law, employers are obligated to provide ergonomic office equipment to protect employee health.
  • Replacement Cycle: Even if an office chair is not damaged, it is recommended to replace it after more than 5 years of use, as long-term use may lead to performance degradation and structural looseness of the gas lift, increasing safety risks.
