Office Chair Structure in English

Admin October 11, 2026

The structure of an office chair in English includes the headrest, backrest, seat, armrests, support rod (gas lift), swivel joint, five-star base, and casters.

The headrest is an optional but common component, designed to support the user's head and neck, especially during prolonged sitting. It can be adjustable in height and angle to accommodate different body sizes and sitting postures, providing comfort and reducing strain on the cervical spine.

The backrest is a crucial part that supports the user's back. It is usually contoured to fit the natural curve of the spine, promoting good posture and reducing the risk of back pain. Some backrests are adjustable in height and tilt, allowing users to customize their sitting experience.

The seat is where the user sits. It should be wide and deep enough to provide adequate support for the thighs and buttocks. The seat material is often padded for comfort, and some seats may have a breathable design to prevent heat buildup.

The armrests support the user's arms, reducing shoulder and neck strain. They can be adjustable in height and width to fit different body types and work tasks, such as typing or using a mouse.

The support rod (gas lift) is a key component that allows the chair to be adjusted in height. It uses compressed gas to provide smooth and easy height adjustment, enabling users to find the most comfortable sitting position relative to their desk.

The swivel joint enables the chair to rotate 360 degrees, allowing users to easily reach different areas of their workspace without having to move the entire chair.

The five-star base provides stability to the chair. It is usually made of durable materials such as metal or plastic and has five legs that distribute the user's weight evenly, preventing the chair from tipping over.

The casters are attached to the base and allow the chair to move freely on the floor. They come in different types, such as hard floor casters and carpet casters, to suit different floor surfaces.
