Office Chair Structure and Material
The structure and material of office chairs vary depending on the type, with common types including executive chairs and computer chairs, as detailed below:

Executive Chairs
Structure: Executive chairs typically consist of components such as casters, a five-star base, a gas lift, a seat plate, a seat cushion, armrests, a backrest, and a headrest. The seat cushion is made of wood, foam, and upholstery, providing basic support and comfort. The backrest may feature a steel or plastic frame combined with mesh fabric design, balancing support and breathability. The seat plate is commonly made of metal with a mechanical explosion-proof mechanism to ensure safety. The armrests may have 3D height adjustment and rotation functions to accommodate different sitting postures. The gas lift is used to adjust the height, with a travel range of up to 80mm to meet the needs of users of different heights. The casters are mostly made of PA material, supporting omnidirectional rotation for flexible movement. The chair base is made of nylon, balancing strength and lightweight design.
Material: The upholstery often uses leather, artificial leather (PU leather), linen fabric, or mesh fabric. Leather and artificial leather have a premium feel but relatively poor breathability. Linen fabric and mesh fabric offer excellent breathability and resilience, suitable for long-term use. The foam inside the seat cushion needs to have high resilience to reduce fatigue from prolonged sitting. The backrest with a steel or plastic frame requires structural optimization to balance support and flexibility. The metal seat plate needs to be rust-proof to extend its service life. PA casters need to be wear-resistant and quiet, while nylon chair bases need to withstand significant pressure without deformation.
Computer Chairs
Structure: The core structure of computer chairs focuses on lumbar support and headrest design. The lumbar support can conform to the lumbar curve, dispersing pressure. The headrest can support the neck, reducing cervical spine fatigue. When the budget allows, it is recommended to choose models with independently adjustable lumbar support and headrest to accommodate different body types and usage scenarios. In addition, the frame of the computer chair needs to be stable, the base needs to have strong load-bearing capacity, and the gas lift needs to pass safety certifications (such as SGS and BIFMA standards) to avoid explosion risks.
Material:
- Seat Cushion Material: Leather seat cushions have poor breathability, can become hot and stuffy after prolonged sitting, and may peel and fade over time. Perforated special mesh fabric adopts a 3D structure, offering excellent breathability and comfort in summer, but at a higher price. Mesh fabric combined with foam offers a balance of breathability and cost, but foam seat cushions are prone to sagging and deformation due to long-term compression.
- Other Materials: High-quality ergonomic chairs usually use high-strength frames (such as nylon reinforced with fibers or aluminum alloy) to ensure structural stability. Wear-resistant and breathable mesh fabric needs to pass tear resistance tests to extend its service life. High-load-bearing bases need to be paired with safety-certified gas lifts to ensure safety. Armrest materials are mostly PU or plastic and need to have anti-slip designs.
