Office Chair Stretching Exercises

Admin October 16, 2026

There are various stretching exercises that can be performed on an office chair. Here are some specific introductions:

Eylem Abaci's 10-Minute Office Stretches

This includes 20 training exercises, each lasting 30 seconds. No need to get up; office workers and students can complete this series of stretching exercises while seated on a chair, helping to relieve body stiffness and correct poor posture.

Lexi's Recommended Stretching Exercises

Sit on an office chair, place one hand on a reachable spot on one side, and the other hand on the outside of the opposite foot. Hold statically while maintaining breathing. Inhale deeply into the chest cavity, and as you exhale, twist backward, looking over your shoulder. Then switch sides for counter-stretching.

5 Stretching Exercises to Do Every 30 Minutes When Getting Up

  • Hip Stretch: Sit on the edge of the chair, feet shoulder-width apart, cross your ankles over the opposite knee, and press your back forward and downward until your chest and abdomen are close to your calves and knees.
  • Lower Back Release: Rotate sideways in the chair, use the arm closest to the chair back to hold it, gently twist the front of your body towards the chair back, and extend the other arm towards the opposite knee as far as possible.
  • Shoulder Opening Exercises: Sit up straight on the edge of the chair, place one arm to the side, straighten your back, raise the other arm with the palm facing inward over your head, and lean to the opposite side; you can also extend both arms backward, grasp the outer edge of the chair back, and push your chest forward.
  • Neck and Shoulder Stretches:
    • Wrist: Extend your right arm with the palm facing up, gently pull your fingers downward and backward with your left hand, then switch hands and repeat.
    • Shoulder: Straighten your arms, cross your fingers, turn your palms outward, gently raise both arms over your head, and stretch your body.
  • Half Downward Dog Pose: Stand facing the chair back, place your hands on the chair back, step back as far as possible with both feet, press your back downward, and keep your arms and legs straight.
