Office Chair Straightening

Admin October 09, 2026

To straighten an office chair, follow the steps of adjusting the seat height, checking and fixing any tilting issues, and adjusting the backrest. Details are as follows:

Adjust the seat height: The appropriate seat height is fundamental to ensuring that the office chair remains upright and comfortable. Stand in front of the chair and adjust the lifting lever or relevant adjustment mechanism beneath the chair so that the highest point of the seat cushion (when level) is just below the knees. Alternatively, adjust the seat height until the front of the chair is just below the knees. This height setting allows the legs to hang naturally, with the knees bent at approximately 90 degrees, reducing leg strain. It also helps maintain the correct sitting posture, preventing the body from leaning forward or backward due to improper seat height, which in turn affects the chair's upright position.

Check and fix tilting issues: The chair may tilt due to uneven or damaged wheels. First, place the chair upright and upside down, and carefully observe the contact between the wheels and the ground. Confirm that each wheel foot is in full contact with the ground, and check for any signs of damage on each wheel foot, such as cracked or deformed wheels. If any damaged wheels are found, purchase a set of new wheels that match the original ones for replacement. When replacing, first pull out each caster directly to remove it, then apply a small amount of spray lubricant to each chair base socket to facilitate smoother installation of the casters. Next, use a rubber mallet to tap each caster into its chair socket, ensuring a secure fit. Finally, turn the chair upside down and test whether the new wheels can roll normally and keep the chair upright.

Adjust the backrest: Adjusting the backrest is crucial for maintaining the chair's upright position and the body's comfort. According to individual body needs, adjust the distance of the backrest forward, backward, up, and down to ensure that the backrest fits snugly against the lower back. The appropriate backrest position provides good lumbar support, reducing lumbar strain and helping the body maintain a natural upright posture. It prevents the body from leaning forward or twisting due to a lack of lumbar support, which in turn affects the overall upright position of the chair.
