Office Chair Steel Plate Removal
To disassemble the steel plate part of an office chair, follow these steps:

Step 1: Prepare Tools and Safety Gear You will need a screwdriver (either Phillips or flat-head, depending on the screw type), a hammer, gloves, and safety goggles. Before starting, ensure the chair is placed on a stable surface to prevent it from sliding or tipping over. Wearing gloves protects your hands from being scratched by screws or metal edges, while safety goggles prevent debris from flying into your eyes during hammering.
Step 2: Separate the Seat Plate from the Base Flip the office chair over so that the seat plate faces upwards. Observe the back of the seat plate; there are usually 4-6 screws securing the steel plate to the base connection. Use the appropriate screwdriver to turn counterclockwise to loosen and remove all screws. Be sure to categorize and store the screws to avoid losing them. If the screws are rusty and difficult to turn, you can spray a small amount of rust remover or use a rubber pad to increase friction. After all screws are removed, gently shake the seat plate to confirm it is completely separated from the base.
Step 3: Remove the Fixed Iron Plate The fixed iron plate is the core component connecting the steel plate to the base and is usually located above the base. Grasp the edge of the iron plate with your hand and try to lift it vertically upwards. If the iron plate is tightly fitted to the base, you can lightly tap the edge of the base with a hammer (avoiding electronic components or plastic parts) to loosen the clips using vibration. When tapping, control the force to avoid damaging the base structure or deforming the iron plate. If the iron plate still cannot be separated, check for any hidden screws or clips that have not been removed; some chairs may have additional fixing points on the contact surface between the iron plate and the base.
Step 4: Inspect and Clean After successful separation, inspect the steel plate, iron plate, and base for any damage or wear. If replacement parts are needed, record the model numbers to facilitate purchasing matching accessories. Use a soft cloth to wipe away any remaining dust or debris, ensuring all components are clean before reassembling or storing them.
Precautions:
- Keep the chair stable during operation to avoid excessive force causing the chair to tip over or parts to fly off.
- If the chair has a pneumatic rod (height adjustment function), release the air pressure before disassembly to prevent sudden popping and injury.
- For complex structures or electronic components (such as electric adjustable chairs), it is recommended to contact a professional for handling to avoid functional damage caused by misoperation.
