Office Chair Steel Frame Process

Admin October 12, 2026

The office chair steel frame process mainly includes four key steps: raw material selection, forming processing, welding process, and surface treatment.

Raw Material Selection: Office chair steel frames typically use high-quality carbon steel or stainless steel as the primary raw materials. Carbon steel offers high strength and good processing properties, while stainless steel provides excellent corrosion resistance, making it suitable for use in humid or corrosive environments. When selecting materials, factors such as actual usage conditions, design requirements, and cost must be comprehensively considered, along with rigorous material testing and screening to ensure the quality of the raw materials meets standards.

Forming Processing: Forming processing is one of the core steps in manufacturing office chair steel frames, primarily involving processes such as stamping, bending, and stretching. Stamping uses molds to shape steel into the desired forms, such as chair legs and backrests. Bending utilizes molds to bend steel into specific shapes, often used for making armrests. Stretching is employed to elongate steel into the ideal shape to meet design requirements. These processing methods require high-precision equipment and technical support to ensure the quality and dimensional accuracy of the formed parts.

Welding Process: Welding is the process of creating a strong connection by melting and then cooling different components. In the production of office chair steel frames, welding is commonly used to join components such as chair legs, backrests, and seats. The choice of welding process depends on the microstructure and properties of the steel, with appropriate welding methods and materials selected to ensure the strength and tightness of the welded joints. For example, when making office chairs, workers use machines to bend steel tubes to create the frame for the chair's base, followed by welding the seat cushion part to the frame.

Surface Treatment: Surface treatment is a crucial step in enhancing the aesthetic appeal and durability of office chair steel frames. Common surface treatment methods include spraying and baking, electroplating, and chrome plating. Among them, the baking process is widely used in high-end office furniture due to its strong adhesion, scratch resistance, and corrosion resistance. Baking requires high-temperature baking to induce a chemical cross-linking reaction in the coating, forming a dense network structure that provides long-lasting protection. Additionally, electroplating and chrome plating can also improve the surface hardness and gloss of the steel frame, enhancing its aesthetic appeal and corrosion resistance.
