Office Chair Steel Frame Broken

Admin October 22, 2026

After the steel frame of an office chair breaks, you can choose the following repair methods based on the broken part and the stress situation:

I. Repair of Load-Bearing Structures (Prioritize Welding or Replacing Components)

If the broken part is a load-bearing structure such as a chair leg or crossbeam, welding repair is the preferred option. The welding repair cost for an ordinary iron chair is approximately 150-200 yuan, and it may take only half an hour to repair a single chair leg. The specific steps are as follows:

  1. Clean the connection: Use pliers and a hammer to remove residues and rust, and sand the surface until it is smooth;
  2. Make a support rod: Cut steel wires at both ends of the broken part and cross them to form an 'X' shape as support;
  3. Weld: Apply solder evenly, place the support rod, and then weld. Use aluminum foil to protect the surrounding materials;
  4. Check and correct: After welding, check the firmness, correct any loose parts, and finally sand the surface until it is smooth. Note: If the steel pipe is hollow and has a wall thickness of less than 0.5 millimeters, welding is difficult and may easily cause other parts to break. It is recommended to replace the component. If the chair has design defects (such as thin steel pipe walls) or material problems (such as false welding), there may still be safety hazards after repair, and you should contact the merchant to negotiate a return, exchange, or compensation.

II. Repair of Non-Load-Bearing Structures (Flexibly Choose Reinforcement Methods)

If the broken part is a non-load-bearing area such as the backrest decorative strip or armrest edge, the following methods can be used:

  1. AB glue + connecting plate reinforcement: Mix AB glue and paste it on the broken part. After it dries, fix it with stainless steel connecting plates and screws. Mark the hole positions and then use an electric drill or soldering iron to make holes. Finally, beautify it with carbon fiber stickers;
  2. Metal plate reinforcement: Drill holes at the broken part and install a metal plate. This method is suitable for key parts such as the connection between the chair leg and the crossbeam. Ensure that the metal plate fits closely with the original structure;
  3. Screw fixation: Make holes at the broken part and install screws. Combine it with sanding and coloring to ensure the appearance. This method is suitable for parts with less stress such as the backrest crossbar. Regularly check for loose screws;
  4. Simple reinforcement: Use A glue to bond and then add metal plates, or wrap carbon fiber patches to enhance the strength. The cost is relatively low (within 100 yuan). You can also use metal glue for repair: Clean the broken part, sand it, and then apply glue (thickness โ‰ค 1 millimeter). After splicing, ventilate and dry it for 24 hours.

III. Repair of Hollow Iron Pipe Breakage (Sleeve Connection or Implant Reinforcement)

For hollow iron pipe breakage, the following methods can be used:

  1. Wooden stick or thin tube sleeve connection: Shave a wooden stick to an appropriate diameter and hammer it into the broken end, or take a thin tube slightly thicker than the support rod and sleeve it at both ends. Apply glue and then drill holes for fixation;
  2. Internal implantation of a steel shaft: Make a positioning fixture to ensure that the drilled holes are coaxial. Apply glue and then hammer the steel shaft into the hole to close the broken ends. Finally, press a heavy object and wait for the glue to solidify.

After repair, check the stability of the chair to ensure there is no shaking or abnormal noise and avoid secondary damage.
