Office Chair Static Pressure Test

Admin October 22, 2026

The office chair static pressure test mainly includes five-claw static pressure test, front-corner static pressure test, and footrest static pressure test, which are used to evaluate the load-bearing strength and performance limits of different components.

The five-claw static pressure test aims to simulate the static load-bearing scenario of the seat and test the load-bearing strength of the five-claw base. Before the test, check the overall structure of the office chair to ensure that the five-claw base, chair wheels, seat frame, etc., are correctly assembled and free of looseness. Determine the test weight according to the chair's nominal load-bearing capacity, generally 1.5 to 2 times the maximum load. Maintain static pressure for 30 minutes to 1 hour and observe whether there is any obvious deformation, damage, or instability in the five-claw base. After removing the load, check whether components such as the base and gas spring return to their original state. Complete recovery indicates that the ability to withstand static pressure is qualified. If there is deformation or damage, it means that the design load-bearing standard has not been met. In addition, it is necessary to check whether other parts of the chair (such as chair wheels and gas springs) are damaged or fail during the test.

The front-corner static pressure test uses a dedicated testing machine with an aluminum profile frame, an 8mm-thick steel plate base, a PLC text controller for action control, and a force sensor to sense the applied force. Its technical parameters include a test space of 100*100cm, a seat height of 30 - 65cm, a press plate diameter of 203mm, a loading force of 734N, a loading frequency of 20,000 times per corner, a loading time that can be set from 0 to 9999 minutes, force value adjustment by pneumatic regulation, a manual beam lifting method, PLC control and text display for action control, a stable air source of at least 6kgf/cmยฒ, and a power supply of 1โˆฎAC220V50Hz3A. The test is conducted in accordance with the QB/T2280BIFMAX5.1 standard.

The footrest static pressure test targets the extendable footrest part of the office chair to evaluate its performance limits under long-term and repeated pressure. The testing equipment should be able to apply a vertical downward force, with standardized shape and size of the pressure head to simulate the uniform pressure applied by the sole of a human foot to the pedal. Before the test, adjust the footrest to the extension angle and position specified in the standard and secure it firmly. Apply the pressure in stages, with the initial load stabilizing the testing system, and then gradually increase it to the preset standard value and maintain it for the specified time. During this period, continuously monitor the deformation of the footrest structure through sensors. The test is carried out in multiple cycles to simulate the number of pressure applications over several years of use of the footrest and observe its fatigue characteristics. By measuring the deformation, checking for cracks or fractures, and testing whether the function is normal after the test, comprehensively determine the yield strength of the material, the anti-creep ability of the structure, and the firmness of the connecting components.
