Stain Removal from Office Chairs

Admin October 19, 2026

When there are stains on office chairs, targeted cleaning methods can be used according to different materials, as follows:

1. Cleaning the Casters
If stains are concentrated in the caster area, prioritize handling tangled hair or fibers. Use small scissors to carefully cut away the tangled material, avoiding damage to the wheel structure. Soak a used face towel, wring it out, and wrap the textured side around the wheel. Secure it with a rubber band and move back and forth while sitting on the chair to transfer the dirt onto the towel. This method uses friction to remove stains while preventing liquid from seeping into the wheel interior. For stubborn stains, stick invisible tape to the wheel, keeping the tape surface uneven to increase friction, but be careful to avoid making the wheel too slippery for use.

2. Genuine Leather Office Chairs
Genuine leather is sensitive to cleaning tools and chemicals, requiring gentle methods. First, gently wipe surface stains with a soft, dry cloth, avoiding rough tools (such as steel wool) or cleaners containing alcohol or solvents to prevent cracking or fading of the leather. For deeper stains, spray a small amount of specialized leather cleaner onto a dry cloth and gently rub in a circular motion, then absorb any remaining liquid with a dry cloth. For daily maintenance, use a leather conditioner once a month to maintain the leather's luster and elasticity.

3. Mesh Office Chairs
Mesh material easily attracts dust and has a complex structure, requiring step-by-step cleaning. First, thoroughly vacuum the surface and crevices with a vacuum cleaner equipped with a soft brush attachment to prevent stains from penetrating the fibers when exposed to water. Spray a specialized foam cleaner or diluted neutral cleaner onto the stains and let sit for 5-10 minutes to allow the stains to break down. Use a soft-bristled toothbrush or specialized brush to gently scrub the fiber surface, ensuring even pressure to avoid fraying. For stubborn stains, use a steamer (steam cleaner) and high-temperature cleaner alternately to extract at least twice, using high heat to soften stains and kill bacteria. Immediately after cleaning, use a water extractor to remove moisture or press with a dry towel, and allow to dry naturally in a well-ventilated area, avoiding direct sunlight to prevent fiber aging.

4. PU Material Office Chairs
PU material has a smooth surface and good water resistance, making cleaning relatively simple. If stains are concentrated on the armrests or seat, wipe directly with a damp towel, and most stains can be easily removed. For oil stains or old stains, select a neutral leather cleaner and spray it onto a towel for wiping, then dry with a cloth after cleaning. For maintenance, use a leather conditioner once a month to enhance surface stain resistance and extend the lifespan.
