Office Chair Stain Removal

Admin October 09, 2026

After an office chair gets stained, targeted cleaning methods can be used according to different materials and types of stains. Details are as follows:

I. Cleaning of Regular Office Chairs

  1. Comprehensive Dust Removal
    First, use a duster to remove surface dust. Then, use a vacuum cleaner with fabric attachments and crevice tools to clean the entire chair. Sweep from the top to the wheels, focusing on stubborn hair, fluff, and other debris in the crevices. If you don't have crevice tools, use a compressed air canister to remove dust from hard-to-reach spaces.
  2. Stubborn Stain Treatment
    For stubborn stains, check the chair's care label to determine the type of cleaning agent:
  • Label with 'S': Use dry-cleaning solvent;
  • Label with 'W': Use water-based solvent;
  • Label with 'SW' or 'S/W': Either solvent can be used;
  • Label with 'X': Requires professional cleaning;
  • Label with 'C': Use enzyme detergent.
    Mix warm water with a small amount of dishwashing liquid (or directly use a cleaning agent suitable for the material), put it in a spray bottle or dip a clean cloth into it, and gently pat the stained area (avoid rubbing). Cover the surface but do not completely soak the material. Test in an inconspicuous area before cleaning to prevent damage to the material.

II. Cleaning of Suede Office Chairs

  1. Surface Dust Removal
    Use a vacuum cleaner, a small brush, or a clean soft-bristled brush to gently remove surface dust, focusing on debris in the crevices.
  2. Local Stain Treatment
    For small-area stains such as coffee stains, oil stains, and pen marks, add a small amount of neutral detergent to warm water, dip a soft cloth into it, wring it out, and gently press and wipe the stained area (avoid back-and-forth friction).
  3. Humidity Control
    Suede chairs usually have sponge filling inside, which is prone to mildew or odor after absorbing water. When cleaning, the cloth should be wet but not dripping. Handle it in small amounts multiple times and ventilate and dry it promptly after cleaning.
  4. Restoring the Suede State
    After drying, gently comb the suede in the direction of the pile with a soft-bristled brush to restore the fluffy feel of the surface.

III. Cleaning of Office Chair Casters

  1. Dealing with Tangled Hair
    Use small scissors to cut off hair or fibers tangled around the wheels.
  2. Deep Cleaning
    Wet a used face towel and let it air-dry. Wrap the wheel with the textured side of the towel and secure it with a rubber band. Sit on the chair and move back and forth to transfer the dirt onto the face towel.
  3. Anti-slip Treatment
    Stick invisible tape on the wheels, keeping it wrinkled to increase friction and prevent the wheels from being too slippery.
