Office Chair Stain Prevention
Admin October 10, 2026
For preventing stains on office chairs, targeted measures can be taken for different types, while also paying attention to general cleaning and maintenance points.

For Swivel Chairs with Casters
Use invisible tape to stick on the casters, ensuring the tape is of an appropriate width and moderate stickiness. After sticking and then tearing it off, there should be almost no sticky residue left on the wheels. Also, when sticking, do not make it too flat; let the tape be a bit wrinkled. This can prevent the wheels from being too slippery, thereby avoiding the swivel chair from dirtying the floor during movement.
For Velvet Office Chairs
- Daily Maintenance: Regular vacuuming is crucial. Vacuuming once a week can significantly reduce the frequency of deep cleaning. Avoid spilling drinks on the chair, as once the liquid seeps into the velvet, it is not only difficult to clean but may also leave stains and odors. Additionally, do not expose the chair to a humid environment for a long time, as a humid environment is prone to breeding bacteria and mold, leading to mildew and deterioration of the velvet. The seat cushion area can be appropriately protected with a breathable seat cushion, which can not only reduce direct contact between stains and the velvet but also increase comfort during use.
- Cleaning Methods: If the velvet office chair accidentally gets stained, choose an appropriate cleaning agent according to the type of stain for local cleaning. Pay attention to the force during cleaning to avoid damaging the velvet by scrubbing too hard. After cleaning, place the chair in a well-ventilated place to dry naturally. Do not expose it to direct sunlight, as the velvet fabric may fade.
General Points for All Types of Office Chairs
- Post-Cleaning Handling: After cleaning an office chair, always place it in a well-ventilated place to dry naturally. Do not expose it to direct sunlight, as the fabric or leather may fade or crack, affecting the chair's appearance and service life.
- Surface Cleaning: Avoid scrubbing the chair surface too hard to prevent damage to the surface. For solid wood or iron footrests, do not wipe them directly with a damp cloth to prevent water from causing corrosion to the solid wood or rust to the iron.
- Regular Maintenance: Develop the habit of using a lint roller to roll over the seat cushion every week to remove surface hair and dust. Use a vacuum cleaner to clean the air vents on the chair back every month to prevent dust blockage from affecting air permeability. Wax the metal parts every quarter to protect the metal surface and reduce the frequency of cleaning.
