Office Chair Squeak Handling
Targeted methods can be adopted to handle the squeaking of office chairs based on different situations:

If an office chair develops a sense of resistance and makes abnormal noises after long-term use, focus on checking the lifting column. After prolonged use, the internal parts of the lifting column may generate friction noise due to wear or lack of lubrication. In this case, evenly apply lubricating oil around the lifting column to ensure that the oil penetrates the contact surfaces of the internal parts, reducing friction and eliminating abnormal noises.
For the Sihoo M18 chair that makes a clicking sound after sitting for a long time, the problem often lies in the bearing connections. Due to frequent use, the friction between the parts at the bearing connections increases, which may lead to gaps or wear, resulting in the clicking sound. You can use WD-40 Blue Can (which has the functions of eliminating friction noise and lubrication and comes with a small straw) and spray it at the bearing connections (about five places). After spraying, use a discarded towel to remove the excess oil, so that the bearing connections are fully lubricated, reducing friction and eliminating abnormal noises.
If a rolling stool makes a "creaking", "clicking", or friction sound when moving, you can follow the steps below:
- Deep cleaning: Thoroughly clean the foreign objects at the wheel axles. For example, hair clumps can be removed by disassembly, and surface entanglements can be picked out with small tweezers or hooks. You can also use the electrostatic adsorption method to prevent foreign objects from getting stuck at the wheel axles and affecting rotation, thus generating noise.
- Lubrication and maintenance: Dip a clean cloth in a small amount of sewing machine oil, light mechanical lubricating oil, or special office chair maintenance oil, and apply it to the gaps between the wheel axles and bearings. Rotate the wheels to evenly distribute the oil, and then wipe off the excess oil stains. Before lubrication, it is best to clean the dust at the wheel axles to ensure the lubrication effect.
- Fastening inspection: Turn the chair upside down and check whether the connections between the five-star base and the rolling wheels are loose. Also, check other parts of the chair such as the backrest and armrests. If any looseness is found, tighten them in a timely manner to avoid abnormal noises caused by loose parts.
For the creaking of a computer chair, first understand its structure. For example, the pneumatic rod and the small toggle are responsible for lifting and lowering, there is a large spring inside the plastic sleeve to adjust the forward and backward tilt amplitude of the seat, and the seat tilts around an axle at the base. However, the specific methods for handling creaking can refer to the above-mentioned methods for dealing with abnormal noises from different parts, such as lubricating and fastening the relevant axles and connections.
