Office Chair Spring Replacement
The replacement of office chair springs should be carried out according to the damaged part, as detailed below:

Replacement of the Tray Spring If the damaged part is the tray spring related to the recline adjustment function, refer to the complete replacement process for the tray spring of a computer chair. Before operation, confirm that the spring model matches the original component to avoid functional abnormalities due to non-compliance with specifications.
Replacement of the Backrest Spring
- Fracture Handling: Lay the office chair down and locate the damaged spring. Use a screwdriver to unscrew the fixed screws or clips, and after removing the broken spring, precisely measure its specifications (including length, diameter, number of coils, etc.) to ensure that the material and quality of the new spring are similar to those of the original. Align it with the original position during installation, tighten the screws or fasten the clips to avoid secondary damage caused by looseness.
- Loose Connection Handling: Separate the backrest from the seat and inspect the connection points between the spring and the backrest and seat. If the solder joint is loose, use a soldering iron to re-solder it to ensure a firm joint; if the connecting parts (such as bolts and nuts) are worn, replace them with new parts and reconnect the spring to prevent backrest wobbling due to unstable connections.
Replacement of the Gas Spring (Hydraulic Rod)
- Fault Diagnosis: A faulty gas spring manifests as failure in lifting and lowering, automatic sinking, or inability to lock the height. Such components are designed as one-time sealed units, and drilling, sawing, heating, or disassembly are strictly prohibited. The only solution is to replace the entire unit.
- Replacement Process:
- Safe Disassembly: Prepare tools such as a large pipe wrench and a rubber mallet, and invert the chair. Use the pipe wrench to grip the metal collar connecting the hydraulic rod to the five-star base and rotate it counterclockwise to remove it; observe the connection method between the chair base and the top of the hydraulic rod (such as clip or screw fixation), and use a screwdriver to pry open the clip or unscrew the screw to separate the chair seat.
- Precise Measurement and Purchase: Measure the total length, pipe diameter, and stroke of the old gas spring, and bring the old rod or a photo of its dimensions to a reputable source to purchase a new rod of the same size, grade, and with safety certification to avoid safety hazards caused by mismatched parameters.
- Installation and Testing: After cleaning the interfaces, first connect the five-star base to the new gas spring, and then secure the chair seat. Place the chair upright and repeatedly test the smoothness of lifting and lowering and the firmness of locking to ensure normal function is restored.
Precautions: Cut off the power supply before operation (if the chair has electric functions) and wear protective gloves; if unfamiliar with the structure, it is recommended to contact professional maintenance personnel to avoid damage to components or personal injury due to improper operation.
