Office Chair Spring Button
The spring buttons on office chairs mainly involve two functions: adjusting the tension of the recline spring and controlling seat height.

Adjusting the Tension of the Recline Spring
The tension of the recline spring on office chairs usually supports manual adjustment. The adjustment device is generally located at the base of the chair and is often a knob. Its adjustment principle is based on the elastic properties of the spring, adjusting the recline resistance by changing the preload of the spring. When a user turns the adjustment knob clockwise, the spring is tightened, the preload of the spring increases, and the force required for reclining also increases, resulting in greater recline resistance. This setting is suitable for larger-bodied individuals as it prevents excessive tilting due to body weight during long sitting periods, enabling a more stable office sitting posture. Conversely, when the user turns the adjustment knob counterclockwise, the spring's elasticity is loosened, the preload decreases, and the force required for the backrest to recline becomes smaller, making reclining easier. This is more effort-saving for lighter-bodied people.
Seat Height Control
The height adjustment function of some office chairs is achieved through the cooperation of a spring and a gas lift. There is a round knob (or adjustment lever) under the chair that controls the valve inside the gas lift. The gas lift is filled with high-pressure nitrogen. When the user rotates the round knob under the chair or operates the adjustment lever to open the valve, the nitrogen will flow between the two ends of the piston, pushing the piston rod to extend or retract, thus enabling stepless adjustment of the seat. Users can adjust the seat to a suitable height according to their own height and usage needs, so that their feet can rest flat on the ground and their thighs are parallel to the ground, maintaining a comfortable sitting posture. In addition, the knobs on some high-end chairs have additional functions during adjustment. For example, the lumbar support moves accordingly, providing a lumbar adjustment function. Users can adjust the position and support strength of the lumbar support according to their own lumbar conditions, further enhancing the comfort and applicability of the office chair.
