Office Chair Spray Painting
Admin October 08, 2026
When spray painting on office chairs, it is necessary to select the appropriate method based on the material properties and strictly follow the operating specifications to ensure the effect and safety.

Preparations Before Spray Painting
- Paint Selection: Office chairs are made of various materials, such as breathable mesh fabric, original sponge, and steel frames. The paint should be chosen according to the material properties. For example, a metal-specific paint can be used for the steel frame part, while for the mesh fabric or sponge part, a paint with strong adhesion and good flexibility should be selected to prevent cracking or peeling after spraying. Meanwhile, the durability of the paint should meet the requirements for long-term use to prevent the text from fading or wearing off.
- Template Making: Design a template according to the text or pattern to be sprayed. You can use cardboard or plastic board to cut out the hollowed-out parts of the text or pattern. The template should precisely fit the spraying area to prevent the paint from penetrating into non-target locations. For complex patterns, laser cutting or fine manual carving can be used to complete the template.
- Environment and Protection: The spraying area should be well-ventilated to prevent the accumulation of paint fumes. Operators should wear gloves, masks, and goggles to prevent the paint from coming into contact with the skin or being inhaled into the respiratory tract. If operating indoors, protective cloth can be laid on the ground.
Spray Painting Techniques and Steps
- Surface Cleaning: Wipe the surface of the office chair with a damp cloth to remove dust, oil stains, and other impurities. For stubborn stains, a neutral detergent can be used to assist in cleaning to ensure that the paint fully contacts the material surface and improve adhesion.
- Template Fixing: Align the made template with the spraying position and fix it with tape or clamps to prevent it from shifting during the spraying process. If spraying on a curved surface (such as the curved part of the chair back), adjust the angle of the template to fit the curved surface.
- Even Spraying: Hold the paint can at a distance of 20-30 centimeters from the surface of the office chair and spray evenly using the 'cross-hatching method' to avoid local over-thickness that may cause running or bubbling. After each spraying, wait for 1-2 minutes and repeat 2-3 times to achieve the ideal coverage effect.
- Drying and Inspection: After spraying, place the office chair in a well-ventilated place to dry naturally for at least 24 hours. After drying, check whether the text is clear and the edges are neat. If there are any missed sprayings or flaws, use a fine pen to touch up the paint or re-spray the local area.
Precautions
- Paint Compatibility: Before spraying, conduct a test spray on a concealed part of the office chair to confirm that there are no adverse reactions (such as discoloration or corrosion) between the paint and the material.
- Safe Operation: Keep away from fire sources, avoid heating or impacting the paint can, and store it properly after use.
- Environmental Protection Disposal: Waste paint cans should be disposed of as hazardous waste and should not be discarded randomly.
