Removable and Washable Sponge for Office Chairs
The removal and washing of the sponge in an office chair can be carried out in three steps: disassembly, cleaning, and precautions, as detailed below:

I. Disassembling the Sponge Cushion
- Prepare Tools: Depending on the type of chair, prepare tools such as screwdrivers and pry bars.
- Remove Obstructing Components: Carefully remove components on the seat surface, such as fabric and decorations, that may obstruct disassembly. Be gentle to prevent damage.
- Disassemble the Seat Surface: If the seat surface is fixed with screws, use a screwdriver to unscrew them, keep the screws safe, and gently lift the seat surface to see the sponge cushion. If the sponge is glued, use a tool to slowly separate the glued parts, avoiding damage to the sponge and chair frame.
- Handle Special Connections: For chairs with hidden snaps or zippers, locate the opening positions, undo the snaps or unzip the zippers, and further disassemble the sponge.
II. Cleaning the Sponge Cushion
- Remove Loose Dust: Use a vacuum cleaner to suck away dust attached to the sponge cushion. If a vacuum cleaner is not available, manually pat it with your hands or a hanger. It is recommended to wear a mask when there is a lot of accumulated dust.
- Remove Stubborn Stains: Take a clean cloth, wet it with water, and wring it out until it no longer drips. Dip it in a small amount of dry cleaning solution or water-based cleaner, and gently wipe the stained areas multiple times. Excessive force may damage the fabric surface. Different methods can also be used for different stains. For example, for oil stains, mix dishwashing detergent with water in a ratio of 1:10, dip a soft-bristled brush in it, and gently scrub. For coffee stains and fruit juice stains, use a clean cloth dipped in a small amount of neutral cleaner solution to gently wipe from the outer edge of the stain towards the center.
- Overall Wiping and Cleaning: Mix warm water with an appropriate amount of neutral cleaner, wet a clean cloth with it, wring it out until it no longer drips, and wipe the entire sponge cushion from top to bottom and from left to right along the texture to remove sweat and dust on the surface.
- Rinse with Clean Water to Remove Foam: Use a clean cloth dipped in clean water to wipe the sponge cushion and remove residual cleaner.
III. Precautions
Water Temperature Control: Do not use overly hot water, as it can cause stains to set. Water Volume Control: Do not use too much water. The sponge cushion of a computer chair seat is difficult to dry. Excessive moisture soaking into the cotton cushion and not drying for a long time can easily lead to dampness and mildew. Cleaner Dosage: Use a small and appropriate amount of cleaner. Excessive use and residue on the fabric can shorten the fabric's lifespan. Air Drying: After cleaning, remember to air dry it promptly to avoid dampness and mildew. You can place it in a well-ventilated area, use an electric fan to blow on it, or use a hairdryer, but be careful not to set the hairdryer's temperature too high.
