Office Chair Spiral

Admin October 09, 2026

The spiral structures of office chairs mainly involve two types, which achieve height adjustment or lifting functions through different principles.

The first type is the spiral lifting mechanism, whose core principle is to change the length of the support rod through thread rotation. Specifically, this mechanism usually consists of components with internal and external threads. When the adjusting component is rotated, the internal and external threads rotate relative to each other, causing the support rod to extend or shorten, thereby adjusting the height of the office chair. This structure is simple and reliable. Due to the self-locking property of the threaded connection itself, it can maintain a stable height state when not subjected to external forces and is less prone to accidental sliding or loosening. However, its adjustment speed is relatively slow, requiring the user to continuously rotate the adjusting component to complete the height change. Therefore, it is commonly found in scenarios with low requirements for lifting frequency, such as the office chairs used daily by employees in ordinary offices. These chairs do not need frequent height adjustments, and this spiral lifting mechanism can well meet the needs.

The second type is the special structure of spiral-type lifting chairs, which achieve lifting by hinging the support frame to the chair legs and rotating up and down around the hinge axis. In this structure, the spiral element may be reflected in the adjusting device used to control the rotation angle of the support frame. By rotating this device, the support frame rotates around the hinge axis, which in turn drives the seat surface to rise or fall. This design makes the lifting process more flexible and can adapt to the needs of different users for combinations of seat surface angles and heights. Compared with the first type of spiral lifting mechanism, its adjustment methods may be more diverse. It can not only achieve vertical height adjustment but also adjust the tilt angle of the seat surface to a certain extent, providing users with a more comfortable sitting experience. However, this structure is relatively complex and has high requirements for the precision of components and the assembly process to ensure the flexibility and stability of the hinge parts.
