Office Chair Special Fixation

Admin October 09, 2026

Special fixation methods for office chairs should be selected based on the chair type and the cause of sliding. Details are as follows:

Fixation Solutions for Office Chairs with Casters

  1. Chair Fixed Feet: Directly replace the original casters. After installation, the chair cannot move at all, providing a thorough fixation effect, but sacrificing mobility convenience. Suitable for scenarios that require long-term fixation without the need for movement, such as laboratories and drawing rooms.
  2. Wheels with Brakes or Gravity Self-Locking Mechanisms:
    • Wheels with brakes need to be manually locked and unlocked one by one. The operation is slightly cumbersome but the cost is relatively low;
    • Gravity self-locking wheels use a gravity-triggered mechanism. When a person sits on the chair, the wheels unlock and can roll. When the person leaves, they automatically lock, balancing convenience and stability. Suitable for scenarios that are frequently used and require temporary fixation.
  3. Swivel Chair Wheel Covers/Fixers: These are accessories that directly clamp onto the existing casters. They are easy to install without tools, effectively locking the wheels to prevent sliding and noise generation, while also protecting various floor types from scratches. Suitable for temporary fixation or scenarios with sensitive floor materials.

Low-Cost Techniques to Increase Friction

  1. Paper-Stuffing Method: Fold A4 paper and stuff it into several wheels of the office chair. This can significantly increase rolling resistance, making the chair difficult to slide, but it cannot completely fix the chair. Suitable for emergency or short-term use.
  2. Carpet-Laying Method: Lay a rough carpet in the area where the chair moves. By increasing floor friction, it restricts chair sliding and is an environmental modification solution. Suitable for scenarios with smooth floors where carpet laying is allowed.

Fixation Solutions for Chairs with Fixed Legs

Install anti-slip and silent foot pads. The materials can be silicone (soft, with excellent anti-slip and cushioning effects), EVA pads (with good elasticity), or felt pads (lightweight and silent). Choose foot pads with an appropriate inner diameter according to the shape of the chair legs (round or square). During installation, ensure that the four foot pads completely wrap the bottom of the chair legs and are at the same height to avoid instability caused by an offset center of gravity.

Fixation Solutions for Chairs with Hard Seats

Use seat anti-slip pads with adjustable straps. The back of the pad usually has silicone anti-slip particles that can grip both the seat and the floor. The straps on both sides can firmly fix the pad to the chair, solving the problems of seat sliding and discomfort from prolonged sitting. Suitable for scenarios with hard seats that also require comfort.

Fixation Solutions for Wobbly Wooden Chairs

  1. Gap Filling: Insert wooden wedges into loose mortise-and-tenon joints to fill the gaps and make them tight again.
  2. Connection Enhancement: Use metal L-shaped corner braces to fix the right-angle connections between the chair legs and the crossbars.
  3. Support Addition: Add diagonal braces between the chair legs to form a stable triangular support structure, fundamentally enhancing stability.
