Office Chair Special Air Pump
The office chair special air pump is a key component for adjusting the height of an office chair. Its working principle is to achieve seat elevation and lowering by compressing air, and users should pay attention to operational specifications and safety precautions when using it.

Installation and Operation Points
The office chair special air pump is usually installed vertically between the chair seat and the base. Its core components include the air cylinder, piston, sealing ring, piston rod, air pump cylinder, air cushion, and screw valve. When adjusting the height, align the operating lever with the air cylinder valve: When the screw valve is opened, compressed air enters the air cushion through the piston, pushing the seat upward; when the screw valve is closed, the gas stops flowing, and the seat height is fixed. To lower the seat by releasing air, flip the chair to find the valve position (independent of the front-back position) and release the gas through the operating lever.
Safety Precautions for Use
- Choose a reliable brand: The quality of some office chair pneumatic devices on the market varies greatly. Poor-quality air pumps may pose risks of air leakage or explosion due to poor sealing or insufficient material strength. It is recommended to prioritize purchasing branded products that have passed international safety certifications (such as the BIFMA standard) and avoid using low-priced air pumps from unknown sources.
- Regularly inspect the air pump status: Before use, ensure that the air pump has no damage, air leakage, or abnormal noises. If there are cracks on the air cushion surface, a bent piston rod, or an aged sealing ring, stop using it immediately and replace the components. A damaged air cushion chair may cause the seat to suddenly collapse due to loss of air pressure control.
- Adjust to an appropriate height: Adjust the seat height according to your height and sitting posture to avoid having your feetๆฌ็ฉบ (increasing leg pressure) when the seat is too high or forcing your knees to be higher than your hips (affecting the spinal curve) when the seat is too low. The ideal height should allow your feet to rest flat on the ground, your thighs to be parallel to the ground, and your elbows to be bent at a 90-degree angle.
- Avoid prolonged fixed postures: Maintaining the same sitting posture for a long time can increase the local load on the air pump and may accelerate the wear of the sealing ring. It is recommended to adjust your sitting posture or stand up and move around briefly every 30-60 minutes to reduce continuous pressure on the air pump.
Maintenance and Care Recommendations
Regularly clean the dust on the surface of the air pump to prevent debris from entering the valve and affecting its sealing performance. Avoid using it in extreme temperature environments (such as below -10ยฐC or above 50ยฐC) to prevent performance abnormalities caused by the thermal expansion and contraction of the gas. If the seat elevation and lowering are stuck, contact a professional for inspection and repair. Do not disassemble the internal structure of the air pump by yourself to avoid safety hazards.
