Solid Wood Office Chair Assembly

Admin October 11, 2026

The assembly of solid wood office chairs requires selecting the appropriate method based on the chair type. Classic solid wood chairs primarily use mortise-and-tenon or slot joints, while solid wood computer chairs (such as Scandinavian-style ergonomic chairs) mainly rely on screw fixation.

Assembly Process for Classic Solid Wood Chairs

The core of assembling classic solid wood chairs lies in component joining and structural fixation, following the principle of "step-by-step assembly and precise calibration."

  1. Basic Frame Construction: Prioritize assembling the chair legs and crossbeams. When using vertical wooden slats as chair legs, apply latex adhesive to the connecting surfaces between slats to ensure verticality. If using a mortise-and-tenon structure, pre-process the tenons and mortises, achieving a stable connection by inserting the tenons into the mortises. This method demands high processing precision but requires no additional fasteners.
  2. Curved Component Joining: For connecting curved wooden members (such as backrests or armrests) to vertical components, slot or mortise-and-tenon joints are recommended. Slot design involves pre-cutting grooves in the vertical components, embedding the curved members, and securing them with wooden wedges. Mortise-and-tenon joints require processing tenons at the ends of the curved components to fit into the mortises of the vertical components. After joining, check if the angles meet design requirements.
  3. Step-by-Step Fixation and Calibration: Complex models require phased assembly, such as first fixing the chair legs and crossbeams, then installing the seat frame (secured with wood screws or corner brackets), and finally attaching the backrest. After each assembly step, use a level to check verticality and horizontality, preventing structural misalignment that affects stability.

These chairs feature a modular design, with assembly focusing on screw fixation and component alignment.

  1. Swivel Base and Leg Frame Installation: Unfold the swivel base by rotating it up and down, align it with the mounting holes of the leg frame, and insert long screws through the frame bottom and swivel base holes, securing them with nuts. Ensure the swivel base is perpendicular to the frame to prevent jamming during rotation.
  2. Seat Cushion Connection: Align the bottom of the seat cushion with the mounting holes of the leg frame, insert long screws through the cushion bottom and frame holes, and tighten the nuts. After connection, gently press the seat cushion to check for wobbling; if loose, readjust the screw tightness.
  3. Armrest Frame Installation: Align the armrest frames on both sides with the mounting holes on the seat cushion sides and secure them with long screws. Keep the armrest frames level with the seat cushion to avoid discomfort caused by height differences.
  4. Armrest Padding and Foot Pad Installation: Secure the armrest padding to the armrest frames with short screws, aligning the screw holes. Attach the foot pads directly to the bottom of the chair legs, ensuring the็ฒ˜่ดด (pasting) surface is clean and dry to prevent detachment.

Precautions: Before assembly, verify the component list to avoid missing parts. When using an electric screwdriver, control the torque to prevent screw slippage. For mortise-and-tenon structures, allow 24 hours of static placement after assembly for the latex to fully cure before use.
