Sleeping Postures on Office Chairs

Admin October 08, 2026

The following are some recommended sleeping postures on office chairs that can be chosen according to actual situations:

Chair Reclining Alternative Method: When the office chair has a reclining function and the angle can exceed 30 degrees, adjust the backrest to between 100 and 110 degrees. Lean back slightly, wear a U-shaped pillow normally to support the neck, keeping the cervical spine close to a neutral position and reducing cervical spine pressure. Place your feet flat on the ground, with your knees slightly higher than your hips. This posture can effectively avoid putting pressure on the stomach and does not press on the arms at all. Compared to sleeping with your head on the desk, it can significantly improve the comfort of your lunch break and reduce physical discomfort.

Office Chair Reclining + U-shaped Pillow: If the office chair can recline, using it in combination with a U-shaped pillow is a good choice. During the lunch break, lean directly against the backrest. The U-shaped pillow provides support for the neck, keeping the body in a relatively relaxed state, similar to the feeling of lying down to sleep, which helps reduce pressure on various parts of the body. If you choose to sleep face down, place the U-shaped pillow with the opening facing left on the desktop and tuck your chin into the groove. This way, your arms do not need to be placed under your head, reducing the pressure on your arms.

Transforming Two Office Chairs into a Semi-reclining Position: If you don't want to lie on the floor, you can transform two office chairs into a semi-reclining position at your workstation. First, pull one office chair back and adjust it to the maximum angle. Then, adjust the position of the other office chair as needed to support different parts of your body, forming a relatively comfortable semi-reclining posture to meet your lunch break needs.

Combining Two or Three Stools: You can alsoๆ‹ผๆŽฅ (here should be 'combine') stools in your workplace. For example, combine two or three stools to form a simple bed. Some people choose to lie semi-reclined on the stools and place another stool under their feet to stretch their bodies to a certain extent. Some even combine four chairs together to obtain a wider and more comfortable rest space.
