Office Chair Size Reservation

Admin October 12, 2026

The reservation of office chair size should be comprehensively considered based on different scenarios and needs. Specific recommendations are as follows:

1. Basic Activity Space Reservation
The rotation radius of a standard office chair is usually 600-750mm. To ensure free movement of personnel, a minimum of 900mm of back-up space should be reserved behind each chair to avoid collisions with obstacles when turning or leaning back. If space is limited, chairs with a smaller rotation radius can be prioritized, but the minimum back-up distance must be ensured.

2. Open Office Area Layout
It is recommended to maintain a seat spacing of 1200-1500mm, which not only avoids interference between personnel when walking but also meets the width requirements of fire exits (usually not less than 1100mm). If further space savings are required, a staggered layout can be adopted, but the width of single-row aisles must be no less than 1200mm.

3. Independent Office Space Planning
For management offices using genuine leather executive chairs, a peripheral space of more than 1500mm should be reserved to accommodate the chair's large-scale rotation and stretching needs. At the same time, the distance between the desk and the wall or furniture should be no less than 1500mm to ensure unobstructed movement.

4. Conference Room Seat Configuration
When using swivel chairs, each seat should have a width of 800mm and a row spacing of no less than 1000mm to ensure smooth entry and exit of personnel and compliance with ergonomics. If conference room space is tight, narrow chairs (width 500-550mm) can be selected, but comfort should be compensated by reducing the number of rows or adjusting the angle of the desk and chairs.

5. Detail Size Optimization

  • Gap between Armrests and Desk Surface: The armrests of ergonomic chairs should maintain a gap of 50-100mm from the lower edge of the desk to avoid arm friction or restriction of chair movement.
  • Aisle Width for Double-Row Workstations: The aisle width should be โ‰ฅ1200mm, and for back-to-back office areas, it should be โ‰ฅ1800mm to meet daily passage and equipment handling needs.
  • Shared Office Spaces: Narrow chairs (width 500-550mm) can be selected and arranged in a staggered layout to improve space utilization while ensuring functionality.

Reasonable reservation of office chair size requires balancing comfort and space efficiency. It is recommended to flexibly adjust parameters according to actual scenarios and prioritize meeting core functional needs (such as rotation and passage).
