Office Chair Size and Material

Admin October 12, 2026

Information on the size and material of office chairs is as follows:

Size:
The seat size of an office chair directly affects user comfort. Fixed-width seats typically range from 40 to 45 centimeters in width, but adjustable seats are more recommended, with width adjustment ranges up to 38 to 48 centimeters, accommodating users of different body types. The height of the chair back varies by style; for example, special models with headrests can reach a full height of 120 centimeters, suitable for scenarios requiring neck support. The connecting steel plate thickness of split-back chairs should be 6 to 8 millimeters to ensure structural stability.

The height difference between the seat and the desktop should be controlled between 25 and 30 centimeters. This design ensures that users can place their arms naturally without suspension or excessive bending, reducing shoulder and neck fatigue. The overall height range of commonly used office chairs for adults is 40 to 50 centimeters. After sitting down, ensure there is a 5 to 10 centimeter gap between the back of the knees and the front edge of the seat to avoid obstructing blood circulation in the legs. If the chair height is not adjustable, choose a model that matches the user's height: users between 160 and 175 centimeters tall are suitable for chairs 40 to 45 centimeters high, while those over 175 centimeters tall are recommended to choose models 45 to 50 centimeters high.

Material:
The fabric selection for office chairs should consider breathability, durability, and feel. Common fabrics include hemp, mesh, and leather: hemp fabric is wear-resistant and cost-effective, suitable for budget-limited scenarios; mesh fabric offers excellent breathability, effectively reducing the feeling of stuffiness during prolonged sitting, but requires attention to prevent snagging; leather fabric feels soft and is easy to clean, but has poor breathability and may feel hot in summer.

The material of the chair legs directly affects the chair's load-bearing capacity and service life. Nylon chair legs are lightweight and cost-effective, but typically have a load-bearing limit of 100 to 120 kilograms, suitable for light-duty use scenarios; aluminum alloy chair legs are stronger, with a load-bearing capacity of over 150 kilograms, and excellent corrosion resistance, suitable for long-term high-frequency use. Additionally, the material of the chair wheels should also be considered: hard wheels are suitable for carpeted floors, while soft wheels (such as PU wheels) are more suitable for wooden or tiled floors to avoid scratching the surface.
