Silent Office Chair

Admin October 08, 2026

To achieve a silent office chair, methods such as lubricating joints, tightening parts, addressing aging components, and adjusting stuck positions can be employed.

Firstly, lubricate the chair's joints. During use, the joints of an office chair can generate friction due to frequent movement, resulting in noise. At this point, you can apply cooking oil or essential balm to the chair's joints. Cooking oil has certain lubricating properties, reducing friction between joints; essential balm not only lubricates but also masks minor noises with its distinctive scent. After application, move the chair multiple times to allow the lubricant to fully penetrate the joints, effectively reducing the likelihood of noise.

Secondly, inspect and tighten the chair's parts. After prolonged use, an office chair may experience loosening of parts, such as screws and nuts in connecting components. Loose parts can lead to poor fit between chair sections, causing noise during movement or rotation. Therefore, carefully inspect the chair, identify loose parts, and tighten them using appropriate tools like screwdrivers and wrenches. If any parts are missing, promptly purchase replacements of the same specifications and have them installed by a professional to ensure the chair's structural integrity and stability.

Thirdly, address chair aging issues. For swivel chairs that have been in use for a long time, the rotating parts may experience sticking or noise due to aging. In this case, you can drip some engine oil or lubricating oil onto the rotating parts of the swivel chair. Engine oil and lubricating oil have excellent lubricating properties, reducing friction between rotating components and enabling smoother chair rotation, thereby minimizing noise. After dripping the oil, slowly rotate the chair to evenly distribute the oil on the rotating parts.

Lastly, adjust the chair's stuck position. If the chair gets stuck in a groove, it can lead to inflexible rotation and noise. In this case, try rotating the chair back and forth and side to side, changing its position and angle to free it from the stuck state and restore normal rotation, thus eliminating noise.
