Office Chair Side Repair

Admin October 12, 2026

Office chair side repair should be carried out step by step according to the specific fault conditions. The following are common problems and solutions:

I. Repair of Side Tilt of Office Chairs

  1. Check the Wheel Status Place the chair upright and upside down, and observe whether the wheels are level when they touch the ground. If the wheel feet are bent, deformed, or damaged, it will cause the chair to be unevenly stressed and tilt. In this case, purchase new wheels that match the original wheel model for replacement, ensuring that all wheels are of the same height and rotate smoothly.

  2. Check the Ground Flatness If the wheels are intact but the chair still tilts, confirm whether the ground where the chair is placed is level. An uneven ground will force the wheels to be at different heights, causing a tilt problem. This can be judged by using a level or simply observing whether there are obvious undulations on the ground. If necessary, change the position where the chair is placed.

  3. Check the Seat Panel Structure If there are no abnormalities with the wheels and the ground, check whether the seat panel is loose or deformed.

  • Loose Seat Panel Connection Screws: When the connection screws between the seat panel and the chair frame are loose, the seat panel will tilt due to uneven stress. In this case, use a screwdriver to tighten all the connection screws to ensure that the seat panel is firmly fixed to the chair frame.
  • Damaged Seat Panel Itself: If the seat panel has dents or cracks due to long-term use, it needs to be replaced with a new one. When replacing, choose a product that matches the original seat panel model and install it correctly according to the instructions.

II. Repair of Backrest Angle Adjustment Failure

  1. Check the Adjustment Toggle Operation The adjustment toggle beside the chair is used to adjust the backrest angle. When the toggle is pulled outwards, the backrest should reach the required angle. If the operation method is correct but the backrest does not respond, further inspection of the chair's backrest control structure is required.

  2. Check the Hydraulic Rod Status

  • Place the chair on its side on the ground and check the structure at the bottom of the chair. The chair adjusts the backrest angle through the length of the hydraulic rod. The base of the hydraulic rod is connected to the backrest direct rod (movable), and the other end is connected to the fixed seat panel of the chair.
  • There is a small protrusion at the top of the hydraulic rod. The toggle beside the chair presses the protrusion to return oil through a wire sleeve to achieve stretching and contraction. Remove the hydraulic rod, then unscrew the positioning baffle from the top of the hydraulic rod. Test the force of the hydraulic rod by pressing and releasing the protrusion with your hand. If the force is light and the hydraulic rod can be easily contracted, it indicates that the internal seals of the hydraulic rod are aged or damaged and need to be replaced.
  1. Replace the Hydraulic Rod and Debug
  • Purchase a new hydraulic rod that matches the original model. When installing, ensure that all components are connected correctly.
  • Adjust the positions of the toggle and the protrusion on the hydraulic rod: When the toggle is in the reset state, adjust the top rod pulled by the wire sleeve and the protrusion to be close to each other.
  • Finally, tighten the anti-loosening screws and other screws of the hydraulic rod to ensure that all components are stable and avoid problems such as looseness or adjustment failure again.
